  1. This usually comes down to how the inverter stores its settings. On most decent inverters, settings are saved in non-volatile memory, so even if the battery is disconnected, it should NOT reset. If yours is resetting every time the DC is off, then there’s likely an issue. Common causes: Faulty memory (EEPROM) or control board – this is a big one Firmware issue or low-quality inverter Internal backup component failure (some units use small capacitors or backup circuits) In rare cases, unstable DC supply when shutting down A failing memory board can actually cause the inverter to revert to factory settings repeatedly What you can try:Update firmware (if the model supports it) Check if there’s a proper shutdown sequence (some cheaper units don’t store settings unless shut down correctly) Make sure battery voltage isn’t dropping too quickly when switching off Reality check:If it’s one of the lower-end / older models, this is often not worth repairing — the control board replacement can cost close to a new unit. 👉 We supply and install solar systems across SA, focusing on reliable, properly tested equipment with good after-sales support. A big issue we see is cheaper inverters failing like this after a few years — especially with memory and stability.
