  1. MNK1234 posted a topic in Inverters
Hi Has anyone tried the new Deye cloud app and more specifically the AI “copilot” that replaces the time of use settings? Apparently the AI is meant to optimise usage to ensure max cost savings.
  2. Hi I have a 3-phase supply from Eskom, and currently have the inverter on a single phase. This means that my load is not properly balanced with more load on the phase with the inverter. With the requirement to register as an SSEG becoming seemingly more important, will this be an issue? 1. Is SSEG registration needed? What are the consequences of not registering? 2. Would I need a 3-phase inverter (or one inverter per phase) or am I fine having only one phase backed-up?
  3. Hi All, My solar geyser recently packed up. I am debating whether to replace it with another solar geyser or add more panels to my solar power system and run a normal electric geyser. I should have enough capacity to run the electric geyser during the day through my solar system. What's a better option?
  4. Hi has anyone used SA solar suppliers? Their prices seem almost too good to be true https://sasolarsuppliers.co.za/?product_cat=lithium-ion-batteries
  5. Hi I’ve seen felicity solar batteries advertised that seems quite cheap for the size. Anyone tried them? https://www.solarwaysuppliers.co.za/product/felicity-solar-8-7kwh-li-ion-battery/
  6. The rates Isc or norma operating current?
  7. Hi I have a 5kWh sunsynk inverter and would like to upgrade my battery to 5-10kWh. Which is the best value battery in the market? I have seen massive swings in prices from the quote I've received.
  8. Yes with the battery still having capacity
  9. On my 5kW Sunsynk the max MPPT current is shown to be 13A
  10. So the MPPT will almost manage the current? Which may mean that the performance on the 540W panel will go down to keep the current within range of the inverter?
  11. So when will the current tend to ward the short circuit current?
  12. Short circuit current and operating current is higher than the rated 13A of the inverter
  13. Sorry short circuit current
  14. And your 540W panels with the 5kW sunsynk work fine? We have 4 x540panels so unlikely to exceed the voltage
  15. So the MPPT current is 13A, and the open circuit current of the panels is just more than 13A.
  16. Hi What are the max sized panels I could install on my 5kW Sunsynk inverter? I see the rates Max current on the MPPT is 13A.
  17. Any feedback on this?
  18. Hi Has anyone used the LUXPOWER 5.5KW HYBRID INVERTER? The supplier says its full hybrid inverter with features the same as a Sunsynk or Deye. I am skeptical at this price point
  19. Hi Guys, We had a backup system with a growatt inverter and a pylontech battery. We have recently installed solar panels and put the inverter in Solar or SBU modes. Since installing the panels, the system seems to trip either in the early morning or late evening with a low voltage error. I assume this is due to the panels' inability to provide enough power to run the loads. I understand that the inverter is off-grid, so if the panels can't provide 100% of the load, it switches over to Eskom. I don't understand why the system is tripping. Please can someone guide us on how to fix this issue?
  20. Nope all in full sun could the fact that it went over the design max have damaged something?
  21. Thanks my panels are mounted on my pitch roof so the angle is determined but the angle of the roof which I’m assuming is around 45 degrees Whats strange is that the performance almost deteriorated over night. See attached about 10 days ago when my performance was 110% of design but since then it hasn’t been able to reach much more than 90%. I would assume the deterioration would be more gradual as winter sets in
  22. Hi My solar array's design capacity is 2.7kW. This will be the first winter with the panels. About two weeks ago I noticed the panels generating up to 3kW (peak) but since that day the performance deteriorated (this was about 2 weeks ago). Even on the traditional sunny Jo'burg May days when there isn't a cloud in the sky the system doesn't generate more then 2.2-2.4kW. I always assumed PV is based on light rather than heat so I would assume it would generate the same peak power in Summer and Winter when the sun is shining or am I wrong?
  23. So would this mean I should have it resting at less than 100% or if I cycle it during the day between 80-100% then should be fine?
  24. Hi I have a pylontech battery with my system. The installer recommended that I don't keep the battery fully charged but rather cycle it even if its a little. I currently have it setup such that it cycles to 80% during the day but then gets charged with solar. Will this help the battery or be more detrimental?
  25. Hi With winter upon us I wanted to check what is most economical heating solution? We use gas space heaters which allows me to control consumption but I find it to be neither cheap nor effective. We've been looking at fireplaces but the upfront investment seems quite high and fuel costs are also expensive.
