Hi everyone,
I have recently installed a Hoymiles MI-600 microinverter and two 365W Mono Percium panels from ARTSolar. I still need to align them better, they are ground mounted and not on the roof.
I see you can get a DTU for there micro inverters in order to monitor their output and also ensure that you do not export to the grid. Exporting to the grid is a real issue as our base usage when we are not at home is about 100w.
But anyway the exporting of power is not my main issue, I would like to get the best alignment for the panels to give me the best power production curve across the daylight hours. So I need the DTU for that.
The pricing I have found is more than what the panels cost shipped to Pretoria! https://leroymerlin.co.za/microinverter-data-transmission-unit-ellies-81434955
Do any of you have any cheaper sources for the DTU? Cheap knockoff units form Aliexpress maybe?
I have already determined the the communication happens with NRF24 chips, so I might attempt to sniff the communication. On this front I don't think it broadcasts its power production without a DTU on the other side, as the LED flashes differently when paired with a DTU, so it might need a DTU to start transmissions, who knows, but we'll see what I'm able to sniff if I cannot get a cheaper DTU.
May the sun be with you!
