  1. If it is a Geyserwise system, I would have thought it provided the option of 2 separate power inputs; one for the pump and control panel and separate one for powering the heating element. Not splitting the inputs means no circulation during midday blackouts and no heating by the sun. Wow!
  2. My problem was solved when I selected "USER" for battery and applied some settings I gleaned from advise from the factory
  3. I have a 5kwh Axpert inverter (V 02.66 firmware flashed a while ago) teamed up with a Meritsun 50v 100ah LIFEPO4 battery. This morning I found the Inverter dead with the battery terminals at 12 volt. We did have loadshed last night. The LED diode display 4 lights indicating 75% + charge, but the LCD display panel for interrogating the battery conditions was dead. I found the internal battery voltage is at 48volt when I opened the cover. The battery consists of 15 cells and the factory recommends "cycle charge 53.5-54 v and float 51.5-52.5" MY URGENT QUESTION Will it be safe to simply bypass the BMS and connect directly to the Axpert inverter with suitable settings. What will be the correct settings? We have imminent loadshed. Help please.
  4. Hi All Pardon my very basic/trivial question. TonyH what drawing tool do you use to produce your diagrams? I was wondering if a template for PowerPoint existed or LibreOffice Draw for these drawings Help will be appreciated Neville
  5. My battery is a 15 cel MERITSUN battery. All the new battery options are indeed listed, by scrolling through the battery options on the LCD Display panel. So the conclusion is for me to use a better Android App version of Watchpower. Any suggested? (Entering settings through the LCD panel is so "yester-year". ) Nevertheless, does any of the new (SOL, LIB or LIC) apply to MERITSUN? I'm still having to get Watchpower on my Laptop to connect to the inverter. Ironically the reflash tool connected without a problem but not Watchpower, using the same cable setup. Although my previous inverter connected without problems before it blew up. Any suggestions? This is quite embarrassing to say the least. Much appreciated Coulomb and Shadders
  6. IT WORKED!! VOILA My Android App still displays displays the same 5 battery options as before. My battery is LiPo4 ; any suggestion? If User is selected, where can one find the suitable settings. Your support is appreciated
  7. The main CPU update went well, but running the reflashtool for DSP the message "dsp.hex cannot found! displayed and the com port closed. I did not want to copy the file with the same name from the cpu reflash tool, or was that the right thing to do? I notice more battery selection will become available with the update whic I was looking forward to. LIFEPO4 is now included. Looking forward to uour response
  8. Once again thankyou for responding Coulomb. Unfortunately the problem persisted after converting to 6 strings x 2 panels. Voltage and current measurements confirmed correct reconfiguration. I do not have any monitoring feature installed to record any abnormalities at the time. So whether MPPT is overheating is not known to me. (Any recommendation?) It does appear to me the situation arises when a lot of sun is available and little or no load at the time. Need I be concerned that the inverter default settings are selected, implying Battery type = AGM? The Meritsun 100ah LifePo4 inspires me to be equipped with a sophisticated BMS. The FCS-KING-5000W-MPPT hybrid inverter does have a Battery Option "WECO" which seems equivalent to the Meritsun; Without having any communication cable connected between battery and inverter would some user defined settings not be the better option. Any comments will be highly appreciated. Thanks again for earlier advice.
  9. Thank you so much Coulomb. I think I was a bit in denial when reading your earlier response. So restringing is my next prject. Phase 1 will be 4 x 2 followed by purchasing more cable and connectors to convert remaining panels to 2 x 2. How does the 6 x 2 configuration affect max power output achievable
  10. As said before; I am rather new to the subject although I was an Electrical Engineer by profession many years ago. I am deeply appreciated and impressed by the support from this forum. MY PROBLEM At times my MPPT (SolarCharger) stops with the battery discharging and the sun is blazing. I suspect this occurs after the battery had reached 100% SOC but only sometimes. The MPPT will only resume operation after I first switch off the incoming supply from the PV and wait for the warning that PV is off, and then switch the PV supply back ON again. My system consists of: (A)a single hybrid inverter Specs are: Model Name: FCS-KING-5000W-MPPT Main CPU version: 00071.90 Bluetooth CPU version 00000.24 SCC CPU1 00001.10 (B) 4 strings of 3 Peimar solar panels V(oc) = 46.73 (C) One battery pack of 100AH 50V LiFePO4 by MERITSUN If this problem is unique to this 71.90 firmware version, seems to be mentioned elsewhere on this forum, which version should I flash? and some guidance on flashing will be most appreciated. Especially the cable connections required. The WatchPower seems to have a good procedure. The instruction from Meritsun was not to use any signal cable between battery and inverter and to set the inverter to AGM mode which preloads all the remaining settings. Are there user settings that could solve this issue. Thanks in advance Neville
  11. They eventually replaced item damaged in transit
  12. Thankyou so much for your quick response Coulomb. I was cautious to what seemed risky to auto restart with overload still present. Allowing switching to bypass mode could likewise be damaging if the overload still present. However most of the time I leave the Mains Off so that at night the battery does not charge, allowing the SP to resume charging at sunrise. "Operation Logic" is on AUTO Does the inverter not have an "overload circuit breaker" that disconnects the load? or should I provide one? The Power On/Off switch on the LCD panel apparently has no effect nor the pushbutton switch underneath the inverter. Thanks for your help.
  13. Admittingly this is embarrassing. When my recently installed Axpert King 5kva Inverter trips on overload I cannot find the procedure to acknowledge or reset the alarm state to restart after switching off the load offcourse. My only solution has been to de-energise (switch off mains, battery and PV panel swtches) and restart from cold. It is single inverter and battery setup.
  14. The battery supplier originally said to choose "AGM" mode on the inverter without any further changes. The Bulk Charge (CV) was 56.4 and Float 54.0 However after regular beebs from the battery, I was advised to reduce bulk charge voltage to 54 and float to 52.5. Here is possibly the crux of the matter: I could not change the values without changing fro AGM mode to "User Defined". I did not change back to AGM after the new voltage settings were applied. I only discovered too late that the new voltage settings would remain even changing back to AGM mode. My question is: would the User mode in stead of AGM have had a detrimental effect?
  15. I'm eager, though dreading, to know the completion of your sentence. Thank you for a very informative reply. I bought the battery and inverter directly from suppliers though Alibaba. Trusting equipment to be reliable. Guidance on setting up may have not been that good. Meritsun the battery supplier was familiar with the inverter and said to select AGM battery and the rest would be ok. The BMS being self-sufficient. Regular bleeps without indication came from the battery. I was advised to modify the settings and I suspect that is where things went wrong. I will post the new values here later Thanks and good night
  16. Thanks Stanley but no pv panels connected
  17. Good day every one. A very loud bang came from the room where my 5 kwh Meritsun Powerwall LIFEP04 Battery was being recharged by the 5kva FOSHAN OUYAD ELECTRONIC (Axpert type) hybrid inverter. We had a power failure of about one hour earlier and the inverter has now been recharging for the last 30 minutes or so. Upon investigation I found the battery indicating an overcharge alarm and the inverter showed battery disconnected. Checking the battery indications and consulting with the battery supplier in China it was concluded the battery to be ok. However the battery terminals showed zero volts instead of 50v. I disconnected the two battery cables between battery and inverter. I found the inverter to have a short circuit across its battery terminals. A diode test also confirmed a dead short. With the battery still disconnected I switched the battery off and on and 50v appeared across the its own terminals. The battery SOC was showing 100%. I removed the inverter cover and could not see any sign of any blown component. With the inverter switched on again the only abnormality is the "Battery disconnected" warning. What could have made the loud bang and is it safe to retry connecting the battery? I have not yet connected an PV panels. I am an "out dated" electrical engineer and a newby on the site. Advice will be greatly appreciated Neville
