surfgate started following CFE5100 & 5kw Deye inverter issues - battery error at 100% and Deye 5KW & Wifi connectivity
-
I use Solar Assistant to monitor my 5KW DEYE Inverter, CFE5100S 5kw battery & 5x450w panels. Solar Assistant works fine for monitoring but I am having some issues with the Inverter/battery setup and am busy lining up assistance from CFE and DEYE. In order to facilitate this assistance I need to ensure that both battery and inverter are directly accessible via the internet for troubleshooting and/or firmware updating etc. I appear to be winning with what app to use and how I will get the CFE batteries connected. I am not yet winning on the DEYE front. Can anyone give me a steer as to what app/method is best for direct connection to the DEYE inverter? Any guidance greatly appreciated. S-gate

Thanks @JKKM - I will go through that thread in detail.

Thanks @JayMardern You 100% correct - the battery power & charging activity dropped way down. No errors yet - but I know its coming

An update on the above - I am hoping this info helps when one of the experts on the forum sees it: - The battery has now hit 100% and has not reset (yet) or gone into an error or showing F56 error on the inverter (yet) Question: When the battery hits 100% SOC, should the power and Current indicator not go to zero?

Hi @Buyeye - thanks for replying. I use Solar Assistant (see screenshot below) for remote monitoring and I understand it shows less detail than the actual battery BMS would. I tried (for hours) but was never able to get the CFE App to work. The info below is pretty sparse. I will have to try again and get the CFE app working - found a thread on it this morning. Screen below shows 2 situations where the battery went into error state and turned itself and inverter off.

Hi, After reviewing as many of the CFE5100 & 5kw Deye posts as I could find, I was unable to find anyone with the same issue as I am having. My completely off grid 5kw Deye, 2000W of panels & CFE5100 battery both work very well until the battery gets to 100%. Then, randomly, the battery will go into an error state and shut down - and inverter will then also shut off. If I am onsite, then I will reset the battery and introduce some additional load to drop the battery below 100% and then all works fine - until we get back to 100% battery. This battery error at 100% does not happen every time - it appears completely random but probably 75% of the time - I cannot discern any pattern. If I am not onsite, then the system will usually reboot itself after a while. I can only assume that the battery (and/or inverter?) are somehow not getting rid of the excess incoming solar. Anyone else have a similar setup to mine and seen this issue? Or managed to solve it? Any guidance hugely appreciated. Cheers S-gate

Thanks for the advice and guidance @Scorp007 and @iiznh - much appreciated. The project is proceeding ok so far - but will hopefully be finalised this weekend. And yes @iiznh I forgot to specify, it is def a 12V battery (12V LiFePo4 100AH) - so hopefully no magic smoke from this project in the near future.

I know this is probably a complete newbie (and stupid) question, but after a few days of searching and trying to get some info on this, I am none the wiser. I am trying to setup a small (12V 2a) CCTV camera at an off grid property and am still finding my way around the whole off grid power world. I have a LiFePo4 100AH battery and initially had it connected to a small 80W solar panel and the camera plugged into a 3000W inverter using the CCTV camera's native 220V to 12V adapter. But, it seems to be drawing way more power than needed and surely this is a inefficient use of power - can I not connect the camera directly to the battery (maybe with a fuse & switch)? Or am I heading for a disaster here. Any advice or a steer in the right direction would be hugely appreciated.

Hi, Does anyone know what underlying database the SolarPower 1.14 software uses to store the inverter data? It looks like it might be Apache Derby but I have been unable to verify this. And has anyone had any luck/experience with accessing the database and data to do you own reporting and analysis? Cheers S
