BobTheDinosaur got a reaction from Yellow Measure in Website checkJust came here looking to see if anyone had dealt with them before.
On google maps there are reviews of that business park referring to another solar equipment scam business.

Theese guys also require payment via EFT not card. Which is irreversible. Lastly the "verified business" banner on their site is just an image. It doesn't click through to the independent site that gave them that rating. Major red flags. 99% sure it's a scam.

BobTheDinosaur got a reaction from Gambit in A much better way of connecting Home Assistant to your DEYE/Sunsynk inverterGotcha. Thanks
O and the R7 resistor was soldered off 6 months ago. So the board must just have gotten cooked now.

Updated very early this morning, didn't even notice other than I could tell from some appliances that power had cycled at some point. (update happened about 6-8 hours after I requested it, I didn't touch the inverter before, just left it running, it did seem to reboot though).

Log a support ticket for the firmware upgrade and provide them with your inverter serial and your wifi gateway (dongle) serial.
Both can be obtained from SunSynk Connect at https://sunsynk.net/plants under "equipment"
Alternatively the serial number for my gateway was on the physical dongle sticking out of the inverter.

BobTheDinosaur got a reaction from mzezman in Jet-air aircon, JASA, Tuya, & Home assistant integrationYou have to put the aircon into pairing mode, i think you press the "health" button on the IR remote 8 times, or 10 times, it beeps twice or so after you've done it correctly. Then you add the device in the tuya app using AP (access point) mode - that means you connect to a wifi hotspot that the aircon makes for the setup. the rest is automatic.

Apparently this guy will add your appliance if you ask nicely.

BobTheDinosaur got a reaction from mzezman in Jet-air aircon, JASA, Tuya, & Home assistant integrationI've got 2 Jet-air aircons that work great with the JASA app, full functionality incl a "mute" fan speed mode that isn't on the IR remote.
Have read on here that to pull these into HA I need to first link them to the Tuya app, which I did - also appear to have full functionality on there.
Then used the Tuya integration to pull the devices and their entities into HA using the Tuya IoT platform.
Now when I access the climate entity for the one aircon I can either get a thermostat card or an entity card that opens the same thermostat but with different features, which is weird.
Problem is firstly that the fan speed setting does nothing in HA (works in Tuya app).
Second problem is that the two aircons, that are identical AFAIK, unless they have diff firmware, don't pull through the same features.
So the one has a feature in HA called "swing_mode" that only shows up in its yaml code and not the other unit's. This is the swing feature that both units do have on their remotes and in the Tuya and JASA apps. I've just included screenshots of the one unit's code for now, just want to get fan speed selection working first.
I went into the Tuya IoT platform to see what I could see but I'm lost, screenshots for reference.
The IoT platform "send instructions" feature did work, for fan speeds as well.
Any ideas welcome!

BobTheDinosaur got a reaction from CobusK in Horizontal mounting for long panelsAh thanks for that, didn't realise there is a manual. It appears from the mounting instructions that the panels can be mounted only on their short sides, the direction of the rails wouldn't matter as it's about the contact points with the panel which is the same as the bottom right illustration. The issue is just wind. I don't know how to compare cape town wind to the figures on that page but I'm fairly sure the panels will get rattled to bits in summer in their current configuration especially since they'll rattle against the rails instead of being able to flex backwards freely - which I suppose might be why the rail direction matters!
