November 17, 20214 yr I had the solar assistant app open and noticed strange events happening ... this is why it is such a good idea to have remote monitoring on your inverter. Went to site found lead batteries gassing ... pulled the fuses and replaced the batteries. Fact: A 105 amp/hr deep cycle battery dont last more than 31/2 years ... the batteries are not cycled everyday ... only when there are power cuts ( which we have been experiencing a lot lately) Lucky we caught this lot as they started gassing. I have been watching the backup time reduce over the past few months. Setup (no solar): 230VAC 5 amps (AVG) 1200 watts (AVG) DC side: 8 x 105 amp/hr deep cycle batteries ... 210 amp capacity ( we will be looking into replacing all the lead acids on all our sites ... with lithium as soon as I can find a supplier who want the business) still waiting for suppliers to respond to my emails. 48 VDC 1200 watt 25 amps DC We should expect to get around 4 hours backup time with the new batteries. I have a list of projects for battery upgrades from lead acid to lithium ... I have new projects coming up in January for solar/inverter and batteries and some with just inverters and batteries (online inverters) ... people are getting concerned about eskom and want t be prepared.
