Hey guys my deye wifi dongle lost signal and wont reconnect any thoughts on why?

I tried deleting reconfiguring but the Ap hotspot wont show and network light is dead  

I found in the beginning when using the SolarMan app that my dongle would also disconnect for quite long stretches at a time.

I put it down to wifi signal strength and so improved that by adding on an external antenna to the dongle. Got a specific antenna and extension cable from Poynting Antennas and it did show improvement of retaining signal.

However, I changed pretty quickly after that to Solar Assistant and have not had any problems again.

The solarman dongle has a pigtail antenna at the bottom, it looks like a long thin black tube, Just unscrew it and replace it with any omni-directional high-gain 2.4GHz antenna, you can get these at places like Matrix Warehouse, Incredible Corruption etc. I got 3 a while ago from their "bargain" table. The Poynting antenna that @MdFspeaks of would be excellent quality, but it may cost a bit more than a TP-Link.

Or if you are a DIYer, you can just roll your own, Andrew McNeil's youtube channel is fascinating to watch and he's a penny pincher as well, so his designs are very cost-effective.

Note that higher gain will also increase noise, so if noise is the problem (vs signal strength) then it won't make much difference.

Apologies for the late reply. I bought the Omni-85 from Poynting Tech (https://poynting.tech/) plus a 5m single cable HDF-195 with SMA(m)-SMA(f) connectors.

Total package cost with delivery was R700.
