Prices going to go through the roof?

Featured Replies

I am starting to wonder if I should start dumping as much material stuff as soon as possible, or do I hold onto everything and hope we can ride the storm.

I am sure you have heard by now that there is a war in Ukraine, so what has that got to do with solar? From what I read, more than you think.

Reports indicate that the petrol price could hit R40 per litre, is it bullshyte or is this war going to affect SA prices? Eskom is load shedding again at the moment ( I can see all you solar lads smiling) but my concern is the diesel price. What happens if the diesel price also goes to R40 per litre, will it affect the cost of electricity. There was  25 % increase in 2020, then another 15% increase in 2021 and now talk of a 9.5 % increase soon, then the yearly increase in July again.

We all know if the demand for solar increases, so the smart people will make sure the prices increase. It happens every time there is load shedding, generator and battery prices go crazy.

I am already noticing price increases, not just food, but also the copper price which increases the wire prices. I have been warned by one of my suppliers today that I need to check emails for prices increases every month from this month. We had a price increase last month and today when I went to purchase more materials, I was told there was another 5 % increase last week.

One thing I have noticed in our area, the increase in property prices, you could buy a house for R700-800K, the houses are selling for R1.5-2 M for a 3 bedroom with a pool.

Time to sit back take off the blinkers, grab those reins and hold tight, this could get rather bumpy.

The war is affecting directly all prices in EU and soon it will affect them globally

In my place, electricity is 10 times more expensive than one year ago, gas is 22 times more and petrol increased by 25% too. Diesel is around R25 per litre and unleaded 98 has hit R33 per litre already.

I bought my FV panels for 220€/piece (R3671) in September. I have seen the same type sold for 269€ (R4488) this year.
