Hi All,

I have a new Sunsynk installation at my house and I'm having some teething issues and was hoping some of the more experienced members would be able to assist.

My setup is as follows

1 x 12kW 3 Phase Sunsynk inverter

40 x Canadian Solar / JA Solar 325W/455W panels.

2 x 14.3kWh Solar MD batteries.

The solar panels are connected one string to MPPT2 of 16 x 325W panels and 24 over two strings of Canadian Solar 455W Panels totalling 15.6kw peak generation power (a little more)

So what I've noticed is that since early to mid April I have been seeing MPPT2 drop in amps and all of a sudden my generation falls away on that string. So this was curious to me so I followed a small "troubleshooting" process. (I've attached pictures showing what i mean)

First I thought general shading - but this would cause both MPPTs to drop and not just one.

Then i thought that it would be over these specific panels - All my panels are on the roof relatively well placed and together so I do not expect this to be the case.

Thirdly i thought its a load issue... but at any of these times my batteries are around 30% to 40% and therefore the load is still there in the need to charge the batteries as represented by eskom stepping in to charge my batteries (very undesirable given the amount of solar i have).

Lastly i thought that perhaps this is my "solar peak" for this time of year... but MPPT1 keeps going up.

So i jumped up on my roof (Fortunately/unfortunately its a flat concrete roof) and I walked around and had a look. there is pretty much zero shading, in fact the lighting is better as the trees around my house have lost their leaves. theres one panel which is shaded approximately 15% at the lower end, and the panels over my garage are shaded around 30% because of a tree...

Any help explaining this weird phenomena would be much appreciated! This is causing me to charge my batteries from eskom which is undesirable as i have enough solar to charge off the sun. I have the logger as well so if there is any other info needed i can look it up and attach it.

Thanks in advance!

Shading causes this. The whole string becomes only as good as the shaded panel.

Thanks,

The issue is my other panels are shaded the same... But this mppt is the only one which cuts back.
