Excuse my ignoramxe here. 

We are busy building a new.small house and would like to have my mecer 1kw run our lights (all. Led) and all plugs in the two bedrooms as these will only. Be used for very light loads (cellphones, laptop etc) 

How does one do this? Do I tell the electrician to connect the inverter to the lights and plugs breakers? How does one do This? 

We want the inverter to supplement eskom, meaning the inverter support the loads then automatically switch to eskom when battery or sun finish.

Just provide more info on the Mecer. Is this the Axpert type of inverter with charger and PV inputs or a normal UPS type of inverter used for desktops? May be a pic.

Hi, 

It's the mecer ivr 1200. 

Mppt with solar input currently on 450w JA panel. Not a ups. It's hooked up a 12v lifepo4 battery

Yes it can be wired to DB. If your own place and family happy to only use the plugs connected to it for PC, router and phones the output can be permanent on lights and plugs via its own ELeakage. It is then used as a UPS. It should have settings similar to Axpert as the buttons and display seems to be the same.

Yes it's exactly this. And how we have it working right now via a few extension cords and floor lamps. 

I was more wondering how the wiring would be. Perhaps it has its own DB and then wire to certain circuits on the houses db. 

Just don't know how it would be wired to automatically turn back to eksom on cloudy days etc. 

The inverter automatically switches over however I want to maintain this functionality when it's wire to the db. If this makes sense.

Like the Axpert/Growatt and others. You set the voltage of the battery when it has been discharged to a certain level it should switch back to grid. At this point one can prevent it using grid to re-charge by selecting it to only charge from solar.

I also built my home new, and I designed AC1 (essential circuits) and AC2 (non essential circuits) distribution for my DB. My contractor thus specifically cabled plugs and lights to the DB for these two main circuits. My inverter is a Victron Multiplus II an it provides for the separation. For your Axpert, you’ll connect its output to your AC1 and Eskom to your AC2. The attached pics for my main DB and the inverter change overs might guide you with some ideas. Note that for the plugs on AC1 and AC2 you’ll need separate earth leakage protection.
