6kw on 5kw system

Featured Replies

Maybe a silly question.

If I run , lets say 6kw from my 5kw SPF5000ES what will happen?

I know the inverter can handle 10kw for short periods, but say for about 10 minutes?

Will it shut down or will it only go into bypass mode so that utility and inverter can supply the load?

Any danger to the inverter?.

The reason I am asking is that ,let`s say I have a load of 3kw and someone in the house decides to use a hairdryer or so ???

Cheers

Mark

Your Inverter will shut down. You can get around 5,5kW for a short while before it shuts down.
The values are 10seconds for 110-150% load, and 5 seconds for more than 150% load.
My personal thoughts, don't push it, those overloads will affect components negatively. If it didn't they wouldn't have restricted it to 5kW in the first place.
