As per most things it all depends on how much you would like to control I use it quite intensively but also it was build up over a year so yes there is some hours into it. For fun here is a network app that I wrote , that monitors my network for new devices and notify if a new Ip is on the network. I then have the option to add it to my known devices. It uses the mac address to identify the device (my router unfortunately can not assign a ip to a device) so this way I can identify the devices should the router restart.. The dash and here is the total node red page that does all the work Learned a lot playing with this one!!

November 22, 20178 yr Author Ok, just some quick feedback regarding my original low temps. I have discovered that the controller was connected to the "Geyser" circuit from the DB. Nothing wrong with that, as it used to feed the geyser element before the solar upgrade. What the installer and myself didn't realise, is that the house has got a ripple relay. Well I knew it, but was sort of forgotten about it, as I assumed (wrongly) that the installer know what he's doing. So this past Saturday I get to the house and the system is dead. At approx 9h30, the systems peeps twice, and all is well again, except that the temps in the collector is now nearing 200 flipping degrees!! With our normal sunny mornings here on the highveld, I'm amazed that the system overheating on a daily basis for 6 years wasn't a ticking time bomb. So I installed a new circuit for the controller, and temps by late afternoon with no usage during the day is 50 Deg + . Needless to say, the installer is long gone....which is why I'm always like to give it my best shot, before I call in the so called pro's. It just takes me a while sometimes to "nail" it. Maybe now I can get back to try and get node-red, mqtt, emoncms etc to work nicely. I have successfully implemented them individually, but they are not yet all singing of the same hymn sheet.
