Posted January 16, 20232 yr Hi all, Newbie here and I was hoping for some advise please - I read through some of the threads and I've completely confused my self... I am getting a 5kw Sunsynk Inverter installed with a 5kw Sunsynk Battery and 8 panels. The previous owner had an old resistor type inverter installed years ago and the house has already been split between essential and non-essential. I would like to understand if the following is possible please: the essentials will be fed through the inverter; the non-essentials will not be fed through the inverter; An example of a day: it is 11am and the batteries are fully charged the panels are producing 500W essentials are drawing 150W - so panels feed 150W to essentials non-essentials are drawing 500W inverter takes the "spare" balance of 350W of solar power and feeds that to non-essentials, reducing the amount drawn from Eskom for non-essentials down to 150W Would the above be possible, and if so, does anyone know what settings I would need to have enabled? If the above is possible, on one of the threads, I saw that the risk of the above is that at night the batteries will power the non-essentials as well. So is there no way to have it that the non-essentials will never use battery power and will only use Eskom (if there is power) and solar (to the extent that there is surplus solar after charging batteries and running essentials - and so where there is load shedding and not enough excess solar, then the non-essentials will be turned off? Would really appreciate the help guys! Thanks,

Leaving aside the possibility that if you've got 500W of PV, you might not reach the minimum Voltage for the solar panels to operate. But otherwise, yes, the above is possible, on the Deye brand it's called "Zero Export to CT" and Sunsynk will have its equivalent naming. You can avoid the usage of the battery to power the non-essentials by using the time-of-use function and specifying the desired battery percentage to be 100% at night. If there is load-shedding, the non-essentials are turned off regardless of anything else.
