Top Solar 3KVA Inverter

Featured Replies

We installed a Top Solar 3KVA Inverter with 2 Ritar 12V 100AH Gel batteries to keep  16 9W LED lights and 4 14W spot lights on during loadschedding. The lights are connected to a day night switch. The spotlights only comes on when triggered. Average load 160W at 5A.

The batteries only last for and hour. Voltage drops and inverter shows low battery and switches of.

Is this normal? Or do we need more batteries?

Attached the Inverter specs and photo of brand new batteries.

Any thoughts/ help welcome.

Do you have a multi meter to double check the voltage readings?

Are the batteries new or used?

Yes we tested the voltage and all seems fine. Also checked the batteries with a load tester.

The batteries are brand new and also tested when we picked it up at the supplier.

Did you test with only a short term load tester?

These testers can give a all good reading but can still lack capacity. Also one MUST ensure the batteries are fully charged which might be the problem. Post your bulk and float settings on the inverter. Also post the settings for back to grid and back to battery as well as cut out. Those batteries should give at least 8hrs run time up to the level of SOC of 50%.

Bulk 29.3

Float 29.1

The Inverter is set to USB. No pannels connected.

Cut out at 20V

Some settings need to be revised otherwise you going to kill them batteries in a short time.

Bulk 28.8 or closest on the down side.

Float 27.5V

Cutout 24V

How old are those batteries?
