February 25, 20233 yr Good Evening Guys. Currently I have an Synapse/Axpert 5KRM rackmount inverter with CFE-5100 battery with no solar I have a can bus to USB cable for the CFE battery and the serial to USB cable for the inverter. Unfortunately the inverter and battery bms cant communicate and I am using User settings (from CFE) on the inverter. Is there any way I can get them to communicate via Solar assistant,SMH or any other software on a Raspberri PI so that the inverter will charge the battery according to battery SOC. Thanks Edited February 25, 20233 yr by Kwd1989
March 1, 20233 yr hi . I also have trouble with a CFE battery. Comms are non-exsistant between Phocos and the battery, using a RJ 45 cable. BMS does not work either, on both units. Is the battery at fault?

April 23, 20233 yr I hadn't seen this post - but yes you can use a straight through cable - you would just need to set the dip switches for either RS485/CAN and which pins the battery BMS should output on - SW4 and SW5 are for CANL/CANH or RS485B/RS485A respectively and SW1 (1 and 2 up sets it for CAN output 3 and 4 down) or 3 & 4 up RS485 with 1 and 2 down - you gonna need CFE support to do a firmware update for voltronic - This is for comms to inverter not Pi Edited April 23, 20233 yr by Rosh

DIP switches are a lot easier to change than a cable.
