May 16, 20233 yr Hi All. I’m looking at a 5 kW inverter with a 5.1 kWh battery to carry my small home through loadshedding. The Luxpower inverters seem well priced and reputable. In layman’s terms, what is the difference between the off-gird and hybrid ones? The first is about half the price of the second one, so there must be some features that I would miss out on. May 16, 20233 yr 1) The ability to supply, essential + non essential without exporting to grid . There's no CT coil so one can't prevent feedback to the grid if export is on. If you have a prepaid meter you won't be able to use the non essential feed.
