May 28, 20233 yr I've been doing some research regarding geysers and other hot water options. I saw something of interest on the Kwikot website: https://www.kwikot.com/product-category/solar-pv-water-heating/sol-pve-system/ I then tried to search for who designed and manufactures these and I found this: https://poweroptimal.com/elon-range-2/ The idea of using a DC element in a geyser is a good one, as DC is a more efficient tech. I would like some feedback from people who have this installed as a solution? Any experience or ideas would be welcome! Thanks!
July 2, 20233 yr Hi there, I have the exact Elon 100 system. It works very well in summer. however I find in winter we need to run the geyser slightly longer / change the setting so that it draws more power from eskom. currently I'm using the Elon 100 with a smart switch so that I can heat the water when I would like to. The timer settings on the current unit I have is not as up to date as I would like, therefore I opted for a smart switch. however there is a new product/ upgraded product coming out called, Elon smart water. This new product wil allow you to control the system via an app. Choose times on / off etc etc you can inbox me for additional details or explanation. regards

I will have a look for that Elon smart water and send you a PM if I don't come right. I appreciate it!

April 19, 20242 yr What size Geyser do you have Johnno? And how many panels do you use? Trying to decide between a 150L and 200L tank for the Elon.
November 14, 2025Nov 14 I have an existing Elon100 with 3x 270W canadian panels for R5000 in Stellenbosch.Don't want to remove it because it works great on my 150L geyser but I need the space for a bigger house solar project. It was installed in 2019.Message me if you're interested.
June 9Jun 9 Both the Elon and Geyserwise will heat your water using PV panels. The problem is that many companies over promise and under deliver. I found the Geyserwise system is definitely more efficient. If you use ohms law, you will quickly see that only the Geyserwise system make good on the promises. I have also done some test on resistive element with no mppt, resistive element with mppt and the Geyserwise element with mppt. The Geyserwise system outperformed the other systems every time.
