Battery usage: how much/what is recommended?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I currently have 2 x Greenwich WM5000 batteries, connect to an 8kw Sunsynk inverter with 10 x 460W JA Solar Panels:

  • Capacity: 4954WH
  • Power: 7500W
  • Discharging Rate: 1.5C
  • Rated Voltage: 51.2V
  • Normal Capacity: 96.6Ah , 4.95kWh
  • Charge Mode: CC/CV/CP
  • Max. Charge Current: 80A
  • Charging cut-off voltage: 57.4V
  • Discharge Mode: CC/CP
  • Discharge cut-off voltage: 44.8V
  • Max. Discharge Current: 150A (1.5C continuous)
  • Peak Discharge Current: 350A (100ms)
  • Humidity: 5% to 95% Relative Humidity (Non-condensing)

At the moment, we're using the batteries as more of a backup for load shedding than store n use later as we currently don't have enough batteries - yet.

Is there a guideline that I can follow regarding battery use for supplementary purposes?

EG: I have 1 geyser turned on (on the CT) and the batteries are supplementing the load - is this a bad idea?
