What a useless piece of  ........ @hit!
I have a Growatt SPF5000ES which I fired up a couple of days and is working great. The Wifi dongle thing seems hopeless and I'm at my wits end. It just sits there flashing red and even with a USB extension cable fitted (to move it about in case the signal is better elsewhere) it does nothing else. My phone doesn't see it as a hotspot and it's obviously not connecting to my router as I think it's supposed to change colour?
I can't register the app as I don't have an installer code as I'm the customer and installer and Growatt haven't answered my email where I requested one. 

Any help appreciated and if anyone has a Growatt rep nearby, please kick them up the @rse! for having such poor customer service.
 

We also struggled for days as the android app would not link  the dongle to the router and after trying everything even following YouTube we ended up using the laptop to set it all up .

very much a noob suggestion (im a noob), but is your phone connected via 2.4hgz network or 5ghz. that was a big issue ive had with anything IOT related including setting up the sunsynk dongle tuya plugs etc as they all work only on 2.4ghs, especially since i use a mesh network.

so most iot (internet of things) devices like the inverter dongles only use the 2.4ghz wifi channel from your router, it doesnt carry as much data but its better at going through walls and distances. now most modern routers support both 5ghz and 2.4ghz data channels, and most devices prefer using the 5ghz channel as its faster.
so you need to get into your phone or laptop and check if its connected in 5ghz or 2.4ghz (google search how to do that depending on what phone you use android or ios). if your phone is on 5ghz then thats probably why you havent been able to connect to your dongle. in which case you need google how to set your router to only put out a 2.4ghz signal (each router approaches the settings differently), and connect your phone and dongle via 2.4ghz.

No luck .... Even set for 2.4ghz the dongle is still just flashing red and doesn't show on my phone or connect to the router?

When your phone or PC scans for wifi networks do they see the Growatt?

We always have to start somewhere. With my Goodwe the process was
1) The inverter identifies itself as an available network
2) Using my PC I had to connect to the inverter's network then log in using a pre-set ID and password
3) Then I could configure it to connect to my home's wifi
4) Then it became available to the apps on my phone

OK... not the same inverter, but as I said, we have to stat somewhere, and when the inverters ship they have no way of knowing what networks are available and what they should connect to, so the same general principles must apply.
