Hi sorry for answering so late . At my sister-in-law house the 3.5kw so far is doing well . My 5.5kw ECCO is running off grid now for around 2 years with no issues it does not work hard mostly any thing from 50w to 400w it's winter now so the inverter acon is not being used and the swimming pool very little so for me this inverter is perfect for the job. My brother-in-law 6.5kw ECCO is also running well but it's not perfect as setting limit you to how you want the inverter to operate . So if you in the day on solar but grid at night but want to safe as much electricity with using only say 20% battery into the evening leaving enough for power failure then I would say growat but even better luxpower is a better option to get the most out of your system .
  2. Luxpower 5 kw with an ECCO w51100 . Anyone tried this combination as these 2 units will not communicate with each others using an standard cable . See the combo is sold in some add and would think this luxpower should communicate but it does not . Help and advice would be appreciated
  3. If it's trees on your property an chain saw is the best solution but if it neighbours trees like by me were my 9 panel get from 16:00 in winter shading and neighbours don't care much for my problems as they don't have solar then really apart from moving the panels you really stuck . I am off grid so 16 :00 shading makes the nights so much longer on batteries .
  4. I have 10kw lithium . In winter I get shade on my panel from neighbours trees about 16:00 so solar production is low from then on but my loads in the evening is about 450w till we go to bed around 22:30 so from then on its just appliances that are in standby mode and 1 fridge so my loads from about 22:30 is anything between 60w to 200w depend on the fridge . Morning soc is around between 60% to 70% all depends on if the kettle or micro was used in the evening .
  5. This is now a late reply but next time you try powering your inverter from the gen they have reported if you put a load on the gen of about 1 kw before switch over the gen disconnect switch this help to stabilise the frequency and the volts of the gen . It was talked about in the past on this forum
  6. I would not run 2 different make and model inverters from 1 battery pack . If the bulk charge is set at 26.5 the ecco will charge till set volts hold a few minutes and then return to Float charge . So best set the bulk and float charge on the ecco to 54 volts .
  7. Answer in pm . How about sharing the solution with the rest of mankind so if someone else has the same issue with that inverter they can then also be helped from through this forum .

Had an electrician tell me one day regulations require you to earth everything but by earthing everything gives a path for lightning to travel so everything thing in that path gets damaged . He said all the gate motor he installed with earth all get damage if fencing is hit by lightning but all the gate motors not he did not earth has never been damaged by lightning . Don't bash me for saying this it's just what I was told
  9. What batterys you using. Is the inverter disconnecting or the lithium that is if you using lithium .
  10. It's not just were has the app gone but why are the dongle now not wanting to bind with the router. You do the process the lights go all green then back to 2 flashing lights and no chance on trying to connect with the dongle after that
  11. GMAC replied to HannesH's topic in Batteries
I would not recommend mixing batterys like that can just think strange things will start happening as the pack starts to run down. How do you know the batterys are fully charged 100% as you not communicating with cable and so you using volts for setup ?
  12. I have never seen this inverter charging from AC only when there is solar available . But don't understand why you would want to charge from grid if you have solar available as it uses more kw to charge from grid than what you save
  13. Yes thanks that's the part I was missing. 👌 The start charge is the trigger . So the battery soc% has to be lower than the AC battery start charge soc % for it to trigger the charge from AC . Lucky the guy has load of tree around his house and so his system only start to generate around 11 so his battery soc is still 79% so set in 80% start charge to 85% and it did charge from AC to 85% 👌 . So working now . So now I can do a setup to get this inverter working to his exspection 😀
  14. Bested just replace with a new one as ,talking experience.
  15. No these 3 inverter are on different locations. 2 were installed by an installer and later solar was added by someone else but both places after the solar installation the owner did not see improvement in there electricity account so I was ask to check there setup and found the take load together was not activated so problem solved there . 3 inverter the owner installed his set himself with his son in law which is an qualified electrician . They took at the setup and was lost so I was ask to help . There idea was to use a few % battery into the evening to save on electricity so 20% used was safe amount for only an 5 kw battery stop discharging at 80% in the evening worked perfectly All was working well till load shedding . So now with load shedding if the battery dropped under 80% to say 50% according to the setting In my first posted it should charge to 79% from AC and stop it does not it stays at were ever it stopped after load shedding till sun up . In this pic above you have under AC charge , battery soc or time or both mix if I set in time only it will then charge from AC the batterys up to 100% and discharge back down to 80% and the loop goes on all night not good . In bottom pic if I choose SOC it should follow the bottom two underlined in red. If I choose SOC and TIME it should then follow AC charge start stop time and the two bottom marked in red and it will not charge battery from AC at all if using this setting
  16. You can choose between soc% or volts it is set to follow only soc % setting which it does follow the on grid EOD % at 80% but not when it comes to charging as I said I will charge if you hit the quick charge button and as I said there 3 units that I'm monitoring that has the same issue can't think all 3 are faulty . Is there anyone that has got this luxpower to follow AC charge setting, if there please share your settings
  17. Tried what you suggested not working . There must be something very wrong with these luxpower inverter software as it will not follow any setting regarding AC charging from % or volts or both . The only way this inverter will charge from AC is to push quick charge button on the main screen . . Again am I missing something as it 3 luxpower inverters that I cannot get them to charge from AC with pushing quick charge so it can't be hard ware .
  18. I have searched Google and have not found much on this issue Charge from AC This inverter will not charge from as unless you push the quick charge on the main screen then it seems to only charge for X amount of time or Wats and stop charging . I have tried every setting I can think of to get to to charge after dark from AC to boosted the battery between load shedding with no success . It charges from solar so charging is not an issue . It's set to charge to 100% from solar though the day which it does .Then into the evening to discharge the battery to 80% which it does. Now it set to charge the battery up 79% from AC at night after load shedding for the next load shedding schedule through the night but it does not . the battery can be 26% and they will stay there till sun up or shut down with early morning load shedding which is frustrating because you have to wake at in the middle of the night to push the quick start button one the main screen or the system shuts down due to low battery with next early morning load shedding . the pics is were I ended up after trying everything to get this inverter to charge from AC . what am I missing? 🤔
  19. My expert MKS 2 plus 3kw has being going for 8 years was first running my flat and later the main house now is running the flat my daughter is staying in on the property . It runs from solar day and Eskom night . I have never blown the dust out of it but it is installed all the years in a well ventilated spot so guess heat is a bigger killer than dust .
  20. I installed 12000btu inverter AC and must say it works great once the room is down to temp it draws around 400w constantly . Low loads will only depend on if the AC is sized right for the room and also if you trying to run freezing cold room .
  21. This working mode setup is set to use 20% leave the rest for possible power failure but if you live in a town that suffers very little to no power failure you can set the % to much lower benefiting from stored energy .
  22. No do not disable pc&AC leave enabled. Okay yes if 30% is your target then setting 30% EOD will work but charging up another 10% ofter it turns to Eskom is an issue with these luxpower inverters just can't seem to get them to charge up from AC to an % set they just don't want to as there must be a bug in the software . I monitor a few luxpower and all the same issue with them, all when it comes to charge to a set % . There are post on power forum and Google over this luxpower charging from AC issues .
  23. Under discharge setting on grid EOD soc % it is set to 90% so it will use only 10% battery into the evening you can change that setting to your desired % so the inverter uses more battery into the evening. You don't say how many lithium installed as well as solar but I assume there's only one lithium so I would charge under max charge current from 90amps to around 40amps as 90amps will just reduce the battery life . Remember it's not worth to using battery into the evening just to charge it up using Eskom in case of power failure as the inverter consumes more Eskom kw th charge than what you save so if you fear power failure then best is set it to use only 20 to 30% battery into the evening leaving enough for power failure and leaving charging for the day from solar . Luxpower charging from Eskom is on issue and I have never got luxpower inverter to charge from Eskom accordingly to the set % only way to get it to charge is to hit the start quick charge on the apps main screen .
  24. GMAC replied to FransSmith's topic in Inverters
The ecco inverter self consumption is about 0.3 amps which is around 70w per hour . So now depending on how the battery setting are set (% or V )will determine how much battery will be consuming . If the inverter is set on USE it will be constantly float charging the battery and so with self consumption and float charging it's going to get expensive to have that setup running 24/7.
  25. GMAC replied to FransSmith's topic in Inverters
When did your bill increase after installed the inverter or suddenly one day long after the inverter was installed ? What inverter is it ? Are you using communication between inverter and lithium ? If it's after you installed the inverter and there no communication between inverter and battery then it's normally due to float charging the battery 24/7 and so going to cost . It's alway best to install solar even if it's just enough to keep the battery fully charged and not to charge or float charge from grid at all .
