July 4, 20233 yr As it seems that Eskom and the local municipalities are going to be pushing load limiting for the foreseeable future does anyone have any insight into the technicalities of it. I am particularly looking at how the smart meters are given the signal to enter into a load limiting state and how they are signaled to stop? What tech is being used here? PLC (Power Line Comms), Frequency shifting, voltage limiting? Does anyone have a clue?

July 4, 20233 yr Author Using Sigfox or LORAWAN is definitely a possibility and then using a Pub-Sub model like MQTT. Any sort of electronic/digital signaling will help if anyone wants to automate the shutting down of bigger loads when they go into load limiting.
