That is the sunsynk server going down causing your inverter to think it is midnight and resetting the daily totals
    Easily spotted in the data

@Sc00bs why kick a man when he is down?
    I do sell locally.
I have 2 dongles available that I sell with firmware at this stage (that is my only stock I have)
I do have about 40x Geniune ESP32 Microcontrollers that was delivered this week but those are useless on their own.
I have a stack of dud circuits that never made it past testing. I do not sell those, I am not that kind of person.

Just currently out of stock and having the worst Feb.
R12K out of pocket waiting for my package and I have bills to pay.
My package has been stuck for more than 3 weeks and I sold out on 7Feb. Luckily the tracking shows it moved again, so I will have stock around then end of Feb if I judge by other shipments.

Yes, I have clients running completely off-grid and the Gen is connected to the Grid input and the AUX/GEN is used to run aircons and other non-essentials. The inverter can still start the Generator via normal inverter logic and charge the battery to the desired level (According to the Time-of-use)

Your communications board in the inverter is dead. Get it replaced under warranty

Aim: To get a new Solar user up and running with Home Assistant within a couple of minutes. (If you are running a Deye/Sunsynk/Sol-Ark then this is for you)
What I did: I started a clean home assistant server https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/  and started installing the required plugins, defining needed options in configuration.yaml/templates.yaml etc setting up a automations needed to aid comms to the inverter settings/send & receive telegram messages. And lastly setup a solar desktop with info complete with graphs and displays, config settings etc, that I copied from my production system.
It took me months to get to this point with my home assistant so I hope my effort will speed up the process for new Home Assistant users
I made a backup that can be restored in a minute giving you all the required building blocks.
    Project can be found here:
    https://github.com/tomatensaus/DeyeSolarDesktop
Check under releases for the latest backup if you wish to restore

I am also selling a smartDeyeDongle that is plug and play (Currently in beta testing for single phase inverters). You simply plug them into the inverter and connect them to your WIFI and they will show up on your Home Assistant server translating all the values to the existing desktop. You will be able to view and change the inverter values from your desktop or automation. It can run fully disconnected from the internet if that is your need.

There are still some things you need to do yourself that I cannot do:
Register your own telegram bot to send commands/receive notifications from your Home Assistant. This will allow you to receive notifications when loadshedding starts/ends.
Register on sepush.co.za to get access to the api so you can receive the loadshedding info in home assistant
If you want to use another method for collecting data that is cool too (Just translate the entity names).
    https://github.com/kellerza/sunsynk
    https://github.com/StephanJoubert/home_assistant_solarman
There is no reason why you should not be able to copy bits and pieces from this desktop for your own home assistant desktop. Even if you use another inverter all the relevant yaml files are included. Grab what you like, delete what does not suit you

I tried to document how the various pieces go together. Home Assistant is unfortunately a bit of a learning curve.

perhaps a small bug to note... The Daily load cuts off the last h on (kWh)  once you go over 100kWh

This is the current strategy to try to get them balanced with the inverter. My friend ran his setup on Voltage based settings for over a year on the JKBMS, before that he used a Daly and the balance function can be compared to the effectiveness Eskom. Once you log and graph cell voltages it is easy to see cells that have a poor contact.
After seeing the "Peter board" I was inspired so told him we were going to fix his battery and get his SOC working on the inverter. This is the progress till now. Just though I would post some graphs and show people what is possible. Planning to sell some circuits once I fix all the issues

Social media is a very dangerous platform. My name is Mark Stemmett one of the owners of Microcare. My tel number is 083 261 5907 and I welcome any call to resolve any issue. I would direct any member to our website microcare.co.za to look at what is on offer. In contradiction to what is has been written here on some of the posts I can only say I receive numerous calls on a daily basis from both installers and end users who phone simply to say thank you and compliment us for excellent service.
Please feel free to call me at any point if you have a problem that is unresolved. My commitment is for us to provide installers with a 100% satisfaction level of service. Please note we do not interact with end users.

The Deye & FreedomWon equipment are also not immune. I had a call out to investigate & the CANbus Comms also not functional because of a Surge due to a very close hit less than 50m away. Luckily we had 2 machine in parallel. The poor master took the damage so we reverted to Slave & master reallocation & we back on the road running again. The 15/12 FW both CANbus modules on the both BMSs dead. Battery still functional but no comms. Again we lucky we had another 2 x 10/8 to rely on for Comms otherwise we were dead in our tracks.
I will report back on this because it's a Deye machine so let's test the RMA processes as well as the FW RMA which I'm confident will be a self repair or BMS swop out. However, knowing the fine print I think Lightning events are definitely not covered. Nothing will withstand our mother nature when she is angry & flashing her camera.

Everyone imagines trees catching fire when hit directly; but indirect affects are often more far-reaching.

A nearby strike can induce voltage surges onto power and data cables at quite a distance away.
A cable meant to be carrying 5V that spikes to >50V as a result of a nearby strike can end up blowing the equipment on both ends. This is why it’s common to have low voltage equipment - like you mention - get taken out.

In my case, I’ve seen HDMI ports and Ethernet ports - both designed to operate at low-voltage - get destroyed by strikes nearby.

I’m in JHB as well - this arvie was nuts; it promoted me to power everything down and drop the PV and AC breakers on my system…

The timer is purely for when you do not have solar and need to run in UPS mode where the grid charges your battery. You should not turn it off if you have solar. Set the required SOC to keep in reserve for that time, if it goes below the soc the inverter will switch to grid power.
You should also be posting this question in a new thread or a related thread as it has nothing to do with the 8kW dat collection setup, basic forum etiquette

JKBM connected via Bluetooth to the module and updating the Deye inverter via CANBUS. But technically any inverter that supports the pylontech protocol will work, even Axpert/Voltronic/Goodwe inverters.

With the added benefit of being able to track individual cell voltages in home assistant

    Nice.
Once the mqtt data is in SQLite , you should be able to graph the data with Grafana.
telegraf is also able to persist mqtt data to a database.
In my case, I also used a python app to save mqtt to a database.
I did try telegraf, but the python code was already written.
I found that using Docker really helps to run the services.

Went down the rabbit hole already and got to a dead end
By the way I got some of those JST connector wires you mention from communica already, they don't match the image and they are only female so they cannot plug into the bms. Getting stuff in SA is such a pain, I wish the post office will just close shop so we can privatise it.

Inspired by Andy and seeing the "Peter board" I also started working on this.
I have a module that reads the values over bluetooth (makes them all available via Home Assistant) and updates the inverter over CAN (Pylon protocol).
Still playing with the idea of exposing the charge and voltage values so you can implement your own automation to control this.
I did this very successful on my Deye by limiting the max charge current, but I am thinking of all the people with other inverters that would like to customise the way the batteries gets charged.
I will probably sell some boards to help people get their JK's hooked up to their inverters and also their Home Assistant
