July 5, 20232 yr I would like to know if it is possible to replace lead acid calcium batteries with Lithium LifePO batteries. I have a Power UP202 system from Uptech with a 1440W inverter and 2 x 105Ah lead acid calcium batteries. I want to replace the batteries with 1x 24V 50Ah Lithium Iron (LifePO) battery with the following specs: 24V 50Ah Lithium Iron (LifePO) battery Technical Specifications - Lithium Iron Phosphate (LifePO4) Battery Type - 1.28kWh Usable capacity - 50Ah Nominal capacity @ 0.2C - 25.6 VDC Nominal Voltage - Operating Voltage Range: 24 VDC to 28.8VDC - Operating Temp Range : Charge: 0 C to 45 C | Discharge: -20 C to 60 C - Protection : Over-voltage | Under-voltage | Short circuit | Dust and water resistant - Lifespan: 2000 cycles @ 0.2C charging, or discharging until 70% capacity - Dimensions : 328 x 215 x 172 mm (L x W x H) - Terminal: M6 - Weight: 12.8kg Charging / Discharging - Bulk Charging Voltage: 28.8 VDC - Float Charging Voltage: 27.6 VDC - Charge Current: Max 50A - Discharge Current : Max 50A (Burst 100A, - Discharge Voltage Minimum: 24v - Under-voltage Cut-out: 20 VDC - Over-voltage Cut-out: 29.2 VDC - Self-discharge rate: < 3.5% per month The specs of the Uptech Power UP system are as follows: OUTPUT Output Voltage Normal Mode: Built in AYR will boost output voltage by 1.2 when input voltage is less than 200VAC. Battery Mode: 230VAC ±10% Transfer Time 20 min typical Overload capability Bypass Mode: 120% – audible alarm 5 min, then fault mode Normal Mode 115% – switch to bypass Battery Mode: 120% – audible alarm 15 secs, then fault mode 10 secs > unit restarts Battery voltage 24Vdc Battery Type 2 x 105ah lead-acid Calcium Batteries REVERSE POLARITY PROTECTION Floating Charge Voltage 27.4Vdc Constant Current Charge Voltage 28.6Vdc Maximum Charge Current Switchable 10A or 20A

The only remaining issue is if the Uptech will do occasional high voltage de-sulfating. That is pretty bad for lithium.
July 5, 20232 yr Make sure the fan behaves the same, if not then consider adding an external one like a 12V (24V) PC fan. Sometimes the charger thinks the battery is full after a session because the voltage is higher than lead acid and doesn't go into bulk (fan on) charging but rather float (fan off), but still draws max amps causing it to over heat. The mecer trolley type (IVR-1200LBK/Ivr-2400lbks) has this behaviour, not sure about this one though.
