Axpert MKS 5K peculiar behavior

Featured Replies

My 2 Axpert/Synerji MKS 5K off grid parallel inverter have shown yesterday a peculiar behavior when load shedding started:

At 6 o clock at night the electric kitchen was busy and the inverters running in line mode. When power went off the hole system went down. After about 15 to 20 seconds the system came back on again in battery mode and everything looks fine. What might have happened?

First some settings: Back to line mode 48V, back to battery mode 50V, low voltage cut out 42V.

Normally the switching from battery to line mode and vice versa makes a noticeable very short flicker of the lights (up to 20ms). This might be enough to stop the compressors of the fridge and freezer. When they try to restart they can't against the remaining pressure in the cooling system, so they stall pulling very high current until their own protection triggers. Together with cooking current that might have been enough to pull the battery voltage below cutout voltage - the system shut down. The batteries at about 55% SOC left with no more current rapidly recovered their voltage to over 48V. The inverters then decided that this is enough to operate and restarted the system. Well done! The fridge and freezer protections reset themselves after a few minutes, they run again. I checked out the system today and everything looks OK.

I post this event for information. It might happen to others, so they are not surprised.
