EPEVER XTRA4215N STARTUP PROBLEM

Featured Replies

Good day all and especially @Scorp007 as he is the fundi on these stand alone Epever charge controllers.

I did a 12v 400ah lfp off road trailer install for a client 2 months ago and he seems to be having a problem with the charge controller.                                The system installed:

12v 3x 100ah Linergy lfp batteries in parralel.                                                      1 x Epever Xtra 4215N Mppt charge controller(40amp 150v).                            2 x 330wp solar panels in series.            1 x Victron Multiplus 12/3000 inverter.    1x Victron Orion TR smart 12/12/30 dc -dc charger.                                                 1 x 500A Victron Smart Shunt

The problem that occasionally occur is if the lfp batteries are fully charged and when starting to discharge the battery during full sun, the charge controller doesn't switch to charge the battery. According to my client the way to get the Mppt to start charging is to disconnect the solar panels via the fuse and only after closing the fuse it start charging. I did a test run to discharge the battery but everything was fine Mppt charged as per setup. This only happens intermittently. According to Victron Smart shunt history the battery was discharged to 0%soc (10.52v) with minimal load( standby 15 watt) indicating that there is a problem and did not charge for a period of time. Anybody with experience on the Epever Mppt could maybe shed some light as what the problem could be.

Sorry i see the alignment is all over the show

Sorry but I have never come across this type of operation.

Chris is actually the fundi. I just talk a lot more than him 😀

Have you checked on the history of the Solar Manager software that is run on a PC. This is how I use mine.

Were the correct settings loaded from a PC for LFP or does this controller have a different method to load settings. Mine can only be done via PC.

I set the parameters via the LCD screen and it is correct for li 4s. Everything working as expected except for the controller getting stuck intermittently.
