September 9, 20232 yr Hi peeps I have a question about float charging. I have a Sunsynk 8kw Inverter running just as a backup for now. I have one 5kw freedomwon eTower battery (2nd one on way). I use the Use Timer functionality and have all slots put on 100% with grid charging enabled. My question is whilst on 100%, the inverter does not go into float charge stage. it keeps the voltage at 55.9V. I am using the BMS communication. My worry is i might be holding the battery to unnecessary high voltage, the amps are zeroed once 100% is reached. Doesn't the inverter suppose to jump to float charge stage?

The BMS will override the settings you input into the inverter if communication is enabled. Lithium batteries do not float, so that setting is meaningless in any event. If you could view the live BMS data including voltages you will see that even if the inverter is supplying 55.9v the actual battery voltage will be much lower, especialy if the battery has been at 100% SOC for a while.
