September 13, 20232 yr Hi all, I hope my searching skills didn't let me down, but I can't find the answer to what is probably an easy question. If I have a Sunsynk 12 kW hybrid inverter, how does it handle the balance between battery charging and load (assuming night, so no solar)? If my load is 10 kW, does that mean that I have only 2 kW left for battery charging? I'm trying to see what a realistic maximum constant power load is, taking loadshedding's recharge requirements into consideration. Thanks!
September 13, 20232 yr The battery charging is managed more by your charge amps which would be battery dependent. Assuming you have a 12kwh battery that is rated at 1C then yes your maths above would be correct.
September 13, 20232 yr Not sure about the 12KW. But I have 2 x 5KW units and for me it's separate. If the charger is set to 100A and there is a 5KW load in the house the inverter will pull 10KW from the grid side (5KW for the charger and 5KW for the load). You can limit this by setting up grid peak shaving on the inverter. This will limit the total power taken from the grid at any point. So if I were to set it to 6KW for example and there is a 5KW load, the battery will only charge with 1KW. edit: Just to add. If you were to set it to 6KW in the example and you pull 8KW on the load side, the inverter will draw 6KW from the grid and the other 2KW will come from the batteries. And this will only happen when the SOC is lower than the SOC in the System Mode screen. But all of this is just from what I have noticed on my setup. Edited September 13, 20232 yr by CptH4ppy

If battery power is availible the inverter will pull up to its max capacity from the battery. (So 5kw for a 5kw inverter). If you go over that limit and grid is availible the difference will come from thw grid which you will be paying for. All the power will be going to the load.
