Last week we were shedding, but not according to the block 1 schedule. Stories were going around about how our whole suburb had been moved to another substation (I don't believe this, because that's a huge job and one you can't do without cutting power. But I also confess that I am ignorant when it comes to electrical supply, and for all I know there are redudant circuits built into the municipal grid to facilitate such changeovers. But the power would still have to go down, surely?). Anyhoo... switching ESP to the block of the substation we were supposedly moved to solved the problem - we were now switching according to the block 14 schedule. Until Sunday when we started going out according to the block 1 schedule again. So IDK. What I did read, from an electrical engineer who lives in the area, is that where I live is right on the bounday between block 1 and block 14. So it is possible that confusion arose amongst the technicians as to exactly what they should be switching off. Executive summary: 🤷♂️ NB! Both Eskom and City Power have warned that they have no control over ESP and so cannot be bound by it. Edited January 17, 20242 yr by Bobster.

I'm on SA Software version: 2024-01-14 (beta channel) and this seems to be reporting correctly for CoJ/CityPower. SA uses the open source Eskom Calendar https://github.com/beyarkay/eskom-calendar/ CoJ/CityPower don't have a defined computer readable/parse-able way of publishing load-shedding data. CityPower changed schedules and this broke Eskom Calendar. This was recently fixed on github via pull request 514 and is now working again in SA - see https://github.com/beyarkay/eskom-calendar/pull/514 Edited January 17, 20242 yr by system32
January 17, 20242 yr Author In Grahamstown, using latest beta version. It seems to be fixed now, after being non-functional for a few days. The Home Assistant loadshedding integration has been working fine throughout.
