I noticed today that the Sunsynk flow chart shows power going to a UPS and not the house. Why would that be?

In a normal installation, you have two types of connections. One side is the essential side (the side that needs power when Eskom is down) or UPS and the other side is your non-essential side (the side that does not need power when Eskom is down)

Things like stoves, geysers and air conditioners are usually connected to  the non-essential side because they draw too much power and would deplete your batteries in the case of a power failure.
