February 25, 20242 yr Looking at setting up 2 of 400w solar panels and 2 of 200ah batteries with what type of charger do i need and any other device need to monitor the batteries.the car run the batteries are charged by car when the car is still the solar panels charge and if it is are overcast day the 2.2kw generator charges the batteries the 2 of batteries will run 80l frig, fan, led lights and computer. I also need help in the wiring of the system
February 26, 20242 yr PWM or MPPT controllers would both work to use the solar panels to charge the batteries. I assume they are 12v batteries and run in parallel? https://www.victronenergy.com/solar-charge-controllers I think the smart solar controller would work well for you. EDIT: MPPT would be more efficient than a PWM charger although cost is a little higher. I'd spend the extra money and get one of the Victrons as it offers a decent amount of features. February 26, 20242 yr If the batteries are 12V as we guess you would need about a Victron MPPT 150/60 controller to make use of the 800W of panels. Anything smaller will limit the charging power to the batteries. Also look at the Epever MPPTs. They do have a 50 and 60A MPPT. A 50A MPPT at 12V will only be able to use 625W to charge the batteries. 175W of the panels might be wasted in this case. At this price point if you still need to buy an inverter a 12V Axpert type inverter with built in MPPT and AC charger makes more sense. Priced at the same price of a stand alone MPPT controller only.
