oops, sometimes forget that not everybody knows our abbreviations. Authorized Value Provider.

Basically, if a company sells ABB and do not have this sign, they tend to be box pushers and can`t really help with any support or project implementation or product specification. Normally they will have some breakers and contactors on their shelves.

Better than "Alien vs Predator" anyway.

But you are right that changing other settings requires a code for the Profi menu. I actually have a code for mine and I've mucked around in there a bit. You do have to know what you are doing. Other than the ramp rate and maybe playing a bit with the allowed voltages (eg in some parts of Australia a cap of 255V is a bit low), the rest of the stuff probably should be left alone 🙂

You are lucky to have this code. I've just been to the agents who sells the Fronius here in SA and they told me it is not so easy to get the Profi menu code from Fronius. Special request and and.

You send an email to [email protected] and explain why you need it. They send you some documentation to fill in. There's a whole official process, but it can be done.

I can see this being very useful.

That was really posed for Plonkster, whom I know has had a play with one.

That's the thing though this capability isn't really gone into by any of the brands in their documentation. Even Solis hints at the capability, as do others.

That VDE4105 cert seems about all you can go on that hints that the facility may be there..

I have a little off-grid project and I am going to trial a few second-hand brands,  small units that I feel may have potential for a bigger project that will be all brand new bigger units.

I am in no rush, but on Ebay in Europe, I can pick these pv inverters up relatively cheaply(about 15-20% of new). Sunny Island and Victron hybrid inverters on the other hand, seem to keep 90+% of their value. I picked up a 3.6kW SMA TL-21 for £185 today in fact.

The latest model ABB and Fronius units just never are up for grabs.

There seems to be no import tariffs on personal electronics in accompanied baggage going into SA, from what I could gather the customs blurb.

I am aware of that, I'm only looking at models under 30kg.
