Choosing Between Growatt and SRNE: Seeking Advice on Inverter Upgrade

Featured Replies

Greetings everyone,  I find myself in the midst of an inverter upgrade. My current model is the trusty Axpert MKS 5KVA, which has served me well without any issues. However, my energy requirements have grown, prompting the need for an inverter capable of handling two different solar strings and offering output power  I'm currently weighing options between two companies: Growatt (SPF 6000 ES Plus) and SRNE (HESP4860S100). Both boast 6KW inverters with similar specifications. The SRNE variant is IP65-rated, suitable for outdoor use. As both inverters are relatively new, I'm not seeking opinions on longevity, but rather insights into which company, Growatt or SRNE, offers better product quality and general support. Personal or third-party experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Can only comment on my experience with Growatt which has been satisfactory for my pure off-Grid system.
Have been using the initial Inverter since 2021 and expanded to a second one last year as I was in a similar situation as you, but in my case it was brought about by wanting to be completely off the grid and still run my household without worrying about overload. That requirement has been satisfied.

Considering your question and your reported stellar service of your Axpert, I am thinking why you don't consider a second Axpert in parallel, but I am not sure if your model can parallel?
Advantage of a second one in parallel is redundancy if ever there was a failure of the Inverter, then you still have 50% of the system to continue operation whilst the failed unit is repaired.

Why not consider the Luxpower SNA6000? I feel support is better with the Luxpower inverters and the features it offers is great. Value for money it is hard to beat!

Growatt has put me off with them changing revisions on their inverters without documenting it properly. I have never considered SRNE as a premium brand but rather one of the cheaper brands, however I could be wrong here. I know someone who has a 24v SRNE inverter & battery AIO type of setup and he is not impressed with the performance (I think battery life, although chances are he just did not spec enough capacity as its a large property).

As you mentioned the battery problem is related to settings as the SRNE has all the settings that the Mecer/Axpert low voltage MPPT has. Then also a high bypass current of 30A on the 2/3kW unit.

Not sure what is different on the 6kW unit as the above is for the 2/3kW unit.

I agree on the Luxpower 6kW.

Thanks for this. Unfortunately my axpert does not have parallel capability. That would have been an option. My use case is also complete offgrid.

I did check Luxpower and it looks like a decent piece of kit. Unfortunately it is not offered in my country :(. My options are limited out of which SRNE and Growatt are the only budget inverters on offer (if we rule out el cheapos random Chinese inverters)

@bigbrovar Also like @zsde I have been running two SPF 5000 ES inverters in parallel for close to three years. No problems whatsoever, in my humble opinion nothing wrong with Growatt inverters.
