Hi everyone, I need help again.

My Luxpower SNA5000 SA version is working fine. It has two PV inputs and four 160 AH lead-acid batteries that are charged by the PV. However, when I switch off the main input supply, the output power goes off and doesn't feed the house. Please note that I only connected the positive terminal in the output supply and not the neutral terminal because when I did that with my Tiger inverter, it exploded. Please advise on this.

Use a known in good order appliance like a hear dryer set to cold and connect it to the output and see that the SNA works fine from battery.

Then you can use say a 10A MCB on the output to feed your normal back up loads and see if all works well. If all is well use a 20A MCB.

This will be my step approach.

Hi, it seems that you are mixing terminology by referring to the output as a positive terminal and neutral terminal. It can be assumed you mean Live and Neutral output terminals.  It's hard to tell as it depends on the connection after the output, to the essentials DB, and what is going in in there. Perhaps Earth is connected to the Neutral bar, or similar, and the load is sourcing the Neutral that way. Seems like when you switch off the Mains, that circuit is broken and no longer provides a Neutral path. In any case the output is a separate supply point and the Live and Neutral connections need to be used for loads.  Check what your inverter specifies for the Neutral connection, whether the changeover is internal, or you need an external relay to switch it to the load. If something was blowing up then you have serious issues downstream at the essential DB end.  Best to get a qualified Electrician to check the recommended circuit connection against how it is currently wired, as it seems that the basics are not in place

Thanks, sir, for clarifying all the issues. I think the best way forward would be to call an experienced electrician who can resolve it. My old Tiger generator was running smoothly with only a single live phase to connect to the DB box. Since I bought the new Luxpower inverter, I thought I'd ask for more advice.

Hi, in addition, I have noticed that here in Zambia, we combine earth and neutral with the same neutral bar in the main DB box. It seems that isolating this can resolve the issue.
