July 21, 20251 yr Hi thereSorry if i'm posting in the wrong area.Our setup is 12 x 500w solar panels, 15/12 FreedomWon battery, 8kw sunsynk inverterI have power problems with my gaming pc: 3080ti, 9800x3d, super flower 1KW PSU. The problem is most of the time when grid goes off and comes back on my monitor will go off and i have to physically disconnect end reconnect the power from the monitor itself to get it to power on again. Everything else works 100%. It started happening more and more and my monitor main board went fault so I bought a new one. So after that hapeened I installed this africa surge WMC HiLo surge protector. i always keep my pc on and this weekend we had a power outage through the night and the morning when I got to my pc it was switched off.I think something is happening when the grid goes off and reconnects. So what can be the problem? If you guys need beeter explenation please just ask me I will provide some more information.
July 21, 20251 yr The transition from eksdom power to your solar is supposed to be instant and without interruption, provided all breakers and cables and settings in inverter is correct. Why don't you put your pc in hibernate mode when you are finished for the night?

Hibernate is more for laptops and I don't want to hybernate my pc. You see doing that will solve nothing about the monitor. What happened once is that the pc was off and the montor was also off and when grid came back the screen broke. took it in to Solvetech and they told me the main-board is faulty. So the only thing that make sense was a voltage spike. after installing the surge protector I had one incident this weekend where my pc was on during the night and in the morning my pc was switched off. It's working just fine so maybe the surge protector was protecting my equipment from damage Edited July 21, 20251 yr by DiceAir
July 21, 20251 yr is a recent problem (change) or always been like that?Are your neutrals bonded?Are you using an extension lead or plug it direct into the wallplug? Edited July 21, 20251 yr by jlr

Yes it's always bonded to the incoming earth. Let me explain a bit again. it's not always that the screen goes off. we had one time where the power was off for a very long time and the batteries went below threshold so had no power. then when the power came back that took my monitor with it. but this weekend the power outage was short. we had a few other mini computer power supplies break but don't know if it's due to my current issue. Again if you need more info or my explanation is not clear just ask please

July 21, 20251 yr As long as neutral and earth are bonded somewhere, earth leakages will work and protect people. The official way to do neutral-earth bonding downstream is with a relay (fancy relay). But I doubt whether this will improve your situation.In your case I am recommending a floating earth & neutral during off-grid operation. During on-grid operation the downstream earth and neutral will connect to the incoming neutral.This is very probably safe and I give it a 50% chance of being legal.
