April 12, 20197 yr Good morning, I am on the grid and have 4 solar panels going through an Axpert 3kVA inverter. The batteries are 2 x 12V Deltec 105 Ahr Deep Cycle running a 24V system. I need to replace the batteries and need to know a suitable replacement ... should I go Lithium Ion? Thanks in anticipation, Alan
April 12, 20197 yr I also have a 24v Axpert unit (Mecer branded) and I have placed an order for a Blue Nova lithium battery. I checked with Blue Nova's manufacturing plant in Cape Town that my inverter and their battery are compatible and they confirmed that it is The unit I have ordered was a BN26V-154-4K Classic. What attracted me to this particular unit is that it comes with a 10 year warranty and its rated for 3 600 cycles at 100% depth of discharge.
April 15, 20197 yr To buy lithium batteries is easy. The question is whether to keep your 24v system. The trend is to go to 48v. A lithium battery can go for 6 years plus. Will 24v inverters still be available then?

Once too many times replacing a bank when you least can afford it. And I am patiently waiting on 12v/24v lithiums to become affordable.

Victron has an entire 24V battery range that's mostly for this market. These batteries come with their own BMS, by far the best BMS I've seen in terms of how well it does voltage control (adjust the charge voltage to deal with low/high cells). But they are quite costly... 🙂
