April 20, 20197 yr I believe they have an identical function and Colour GX is expensive. What advantage do the push buttons on Colour GX provide - any other benefits over the Venus?
April 20, 20197 yr https://www.victronenergy.com/live/venus-os:start I went with the Venus GX. If I remember correctly plonkster said The Venus GX had a faster processor as well.
April 20, 20197 yr Both of them are ARM-based Linux machines. They are based on ARM Cortex A8 and they run a distribution of Linux that is called Venus, which in turn is based on OpenEmbedded (which also runs on other well known things like WRT routers and DreamBox sattelite receivers to name two). Since it is just Linux, it will port to anything that runs Linux (even on intel hardware!), but because not all of it is open source, you're limited to the architectures that are supported, which are all ARM-based. The Venus-GX is based on the same ARM architecture as the CCGX but is slightly faster with slightly different hardware options. Since it costs about half of the CCGX, most people tend to opt for this one. You can however run Venus on a Raspberry Pi too, as well as on a Beaglebone Black or even a Nanopi. The newer GX products that are on the way are Nanopi based, and despite the "nano" naming it is actually far faster than the previous versions, and more robust than the Rpi3 (Which is presently the fastest): Quad core CPU with eMMC storage.
April 20, 20197 yr Author So does one need the speed and robustness of the new GX version soon to be introduced? Introduced when?

Once you go past more than 6 or 7 solar chargers, or 3 PV-inverters, then you need the added speed. 23 hours ago, Mistral said: Introduced when? Not soon enough that it makes sense to wait for it. Don't know more about that, sorry.
