If you can choose what is better more wattage (less panels) or less wattage (more panels) for the same kW

Usually it doesn't matter, but you have to watch the minimum and especially maximum panel voltages.

In particular, people are buying 72 cell panels (e.g. 330 W panels) and wiring them up to the economical 145V max Voc Axpert inverter-chargers, and will likely have the internal chargers blow up on cold winter mornings.

For these inverters, since 3S is much more convenient for wiring, you're better off with slightly lower power panels (e.g. 300 W) if they are 60 cell panels.
