July 4, 20197 yr Hi I need help. I have 5x 5KW Axpert Offgrid Inverters connected in Parallel. (sol-ix-5-m) I don't have any Eskom Power connected but instead I have a Ryobi 7KVA Petrol Generator with built in AVR. When I connect the generator to the inverters and let it run the Inverters will kick in the generator load and the in 1 second kick off and back to Solar / Battery. sometimes it will trip some trip switches. I had the AVR on Ryobi Changed to a Firman One as I believe they are better. I connect a 3KVA Tradepower Inverter generator and it will work fine but this is too small. Why do the inverters refuse to accept the power from my Ryobi generator but ok with the Tradepower. I have tried another type of generator (Honda 8kw) and this also will not kick in same result. I basically need the Ryobi to only charge the battery while the inverters use load from batteries when solar not available but no load from generator. What am I doing wrong.
July 5, 20197 yr You need a diesel generator with a governor to give you the correct frequency. It is likely either that or the avr is not responding a quickly as you might hope. If you are going to use a generator a lot, a diesel one is more economical and safer (storing lots of petrol is not very safe).
