DeepBass9
I have recently put up some more panels on my array, but I'm not sure if the power production is correct. I have 2 arrays of 6 x 300W panels. One is at about 35 degrees and the other at about 10 degrees, both facing north. The 35 degree array is producing about 1300-1350W at midday which is reasonable given the time of year and hazy weather. The 10 degree array is producing 600-700W at midday. The sun angle today at noon is 49 degrees above the horizon, so about 14 degrees from perpendicular for the one array and 39 degrees from perpendicular for the other. Does the power production for the 10 degree array sound reasonable, or should I be looking for another problem? Is there a good site to compare the theoretical power production? DeepBass9
That 30% loss is what I was expecting, so at this time of year the 10 degree array would produce about 2/3 of the 35 degree array. I have checked all of the connections and they appear OK. On the 10 degree array the panels are of different sizes, so the one string has 2x330W and 1x300W ad the other string is 3x300W. I have measured the voltage and one was producing 121V and the other 125V when I measured, but I don't think that would be problematic. DeepBass9
Thanks, will do. I think the problem may be MPPT related, as if I check now at 8am, I get 350W from the 10 degree array and 520W from the 35 degree array which is more what I would expect. It may be that the MPPTs (2 x microcare, 40A and 60A) are confusing each other. Currently they are set identically. I will switch the 35 degree one off later when the difference becomes more pronounced, and see if the 10 degree one picks up some power. DeepBass9
So now at 1pm I get 934W from the 10 deg array, and 1288W from the 35 degree array. So the problem fixed itself? I don't like intermittent problems! Edited August 13, 2019 by DeepBass9
