Hi,

I am trying to figure out what cable is required and what the process is to upgrade the firmware on my inverter.

I only have the USB printer type port on my inverter. (see image below)

I currently use this port for monitoring using an USB AB cable.

I have read thru some forums and determined that the requirement is a rj45 to serial converter.

(It was stated that one can not use the computers usb port to upgrade the firmware. Must be the rj45 port)

But how do I then convert from rj45 to serial to usb AB?

 

My Solar Configuration:

• Axpert Mks 3K 24V Plus Inverter (Manual and Specs Uploaded)
• 4 x 370W PV Panels
• 2 x 12V 260Ah Deep Cycle Battery (Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) AGM batteries)

The exception is for those models that don't have an RS-232 connection at all. In these cases, the update tool is a different one that goes looking for a USB connection.

You don't. In your case, you won't be using RS-232, except via a virtual serial port over USB.

So just use the provided USB-B to USB-A cable, or if you can't find it, any "printer" type USB cable should work.
