Hi Viper I have those caps on my batteries but still have to top up on a regular basis (about every 2 months).

I am quite new to batteries, and have no experience with normal battery caps, so can't comment on whether they are worth it or not.

I saw that they recommend the extended height caps when used on solar installations.

Is yours the extended height (cant determine on they angles but the look like the middle one) and where did you get them at what price?

They the standard height (shortest) ones.

I bought these batteries second hand, with them on, from a golf cart company called Melex. 

Okay might explain why they recommend the extended height for solar.
