March 12, 201610 yr I wouldn't skimp too much on this part, especially in Cape Town. How many panels do you have, and what type of roof?
March 12, 201610 yr Nope, I have not. Had aluminium frames custom made to fit on the roof sheets. Panels are protected from the full force of the Northeaster behind the main roof ridge. They are never in shade. Want to check a 200w panel that it is properly fixed, then have it mounted back on the roof and IF it passed the test, connect the 2 x 200w in series. The 3 x 310w panels, want them checked that they are as expected. Add another frame for a 4th 310w panel IF the controller can handle it. I will concede the installer may supply it. In both cases check the wiring AND shorten it. MAYBE into a combiner box. On these roof sheets: http://www.diamondek.co.za/ Good news is, where the panels are, the roof is quite flat. And then earth the panels.

My boet stays in Brackenfell, still need to go put some PV on his roof sometime.
March 13, 201610 yr Here is the exact roof we have: http://www.diamondek.co.za/, supplied by Youngman in Cape Town. They have tested those Kliplock mounting systems on their roofs, the MK005 and 6. After their tests, they advised me not to use them. Has to do with the sheets clipping onto the batons, where the panels can lift the roof sheets under certain circumstances. Yes, I had frames made that clamped on, other frames where fastened through the sheets. Trick is to now to find the bloody batons / trusses under a solid roof with no crawl space where if you make a mistake and it leaks, to fix that will be a real challenge, to say the least.

Pity you're so far, I'm in JHB, although I need to goto CT sometime to go help my boet setup his inverter, might come and do your installation as well if you haven't been helped yet.
