Hi Marius (love your very helpful videos) - I have a remote (Cederberg mountains) install coming up where Inverter/battery and solar array will possibly be 100m removed from each other. The array is quite exposed to possible lightning strikes. Are you saying that an array grounding will not be required? Also, what would your opinion be on the positioning and earthing of the DC Protection box installed at the array vs installed at the Inverter/Battery/DB location? The electrician will have to install a grounding rod or equipment at the inverter/Battery/DB location. Any assistance from yourself or members will be appreciated.

The panels may also be higher voltage panels that 'normal' small charge controllers may not be able to handle. I agree that the security etc should be on a separate system. Sent from my SM-N910H using Tapatalk

Hi Charles, welcome to the forum! Your question can be related to 'How long is a piece of string' It will depend on your budget as well as the intended application/requirements. I have communicated with Mark (OP) and given their limited budget, a few cig sockets or usb ports, with a 2nd hand 12v battery, cheap but reliable controller (Phocos 5A) and a 80W panel will be a good start. I also suggested a meter (Phocos) to add to the educational experience. I think Mark has a great project here and also suggested that they charge a fee for the charging so the kit can be expanded. I have even experienced this effect with 180w panels strapped to my roofrack. Measured AxV when driving in full sunshine, but SE breeze is up by about 10% as opposed to being stationary on the leeway side of our house. Sent from my SM-N910H using Tapatalk

IMO - First replace the stove/oven with gas and install a solar geyser, then see what your load is ito power requirements - you will be surprised how the solar solution is scaled down ito capital outlay. Sent from my SM-N910H using Tapatalk

Emma, I initially thought you were pulling our collective leg, and I was waiting for the punchline. Your latest post puts things in context though. Good luck with the decision as you seem to be stuck... I would think that blending adult food for a baby will not push the blender to the max of the inverter's capacity.
