  1. Definitely an improvement in audible high frequency inverter noise.
  2. Some great news - I believe Sunsynk have a firmware update to fix the issue! The high frequency noise has moved from 15khz to 20khz (nearly impossible to hear). Ask for your 5kw sunsynk to be updated to "M 3.3.8.4". Before update (3.3.8.1) - 15khz noise After update (3.3.8.4) - 20khz noise App is called Spectroid.
  3. I've also been told that Sunsynk SA have been sent a filter for me to use. Just waiting for my installer to get it and install.
  4. I don't think it can be changed. It's on all the sunsynks (at least the 5kw). It just seems to vary in amplitude depending on the unit people have. I can hear mine throughout my house. Below is about 30cm away from my DB (which is about 15m away from my inverter). Similar noise near my inverter. Other appliances (toaster etc.) also emit this noise.
  5. @DiSiNTiGR8 if you willing to through some extra money at the problem. You could try purchase one of these https://www.digikey.co.za/en/products/detail/schaffner-emc-inc/FN2412-45-33/1928942 https://www.digikey.co.za/en/products/detail/epcos-tdk-electronics/B84112G0000G136/1243571 They seem to have 10 to 15dB attenuation at 15khz - which is the noise the Sunsynk is generating.
  6. Any luck reducing the noise? I've had 2 5kw Sunsynks. My inverter is in the garage, so I'm not too concerned about the audible noise from it, the problem I have is the noise from the DB in the kitchen. I'd assume 15-16khz, just a constant high frequency noise regardless of whether the inverter is using battery, PV or grid.

Which is even more weird since I have 14 panels. So I don't really understand where anything is going.
  8. scot posted a topic in Solar Power
I have a 5kw Sunsynk, with 14x 455w JA Solar panels (7 north, 7 west). I'm trying to get a better understanding about the PV Voltage. The 131V on each Mppt just doesn't seem right for my current understanding (and 7 panels). The photo is from around 2pm on a sunny day in Durban. Is the 131V not too close to the 125V MMPT range of the sunsynk?
  9. Just after posting... I found the below thread - which seems to answer things. Some calculations showing that 8x470w even with 0 degree weather in Durban would be sufficient. Max voltage would be 470V at 0 degrees.
  10. I am looking at purchasing a 5kw Sunsynk inverter. I understand the maximum PV DC input is 6500w and each mppt can handle 13A (with fw update). I wanted some clarity on how that 6500w is split per mppt. Could I run 8x470w on 1 mppt and 6x470w on another mppt? I am limited by roof size - but would like to install 14x470w in total - which is 6580w. I know the total is above 6500w - but I believe this should be fine due to losses and it would just result in the power being clipped. Can anyone assist in helping my understand above. I'm sure it's been answered - I just couldn't find anything definitive.
