  1. Makes sense thanks, will check the output. Just a standard fridge nothing fancy. Will check and revert back with my findings.
  2. Ok great thanks for the responses. I had read the hairdryer scenario on another post. As you say it upsets some and not others as I did not have this challenge on my Kodak. Regarding the fridge, it still has the same issue when battery is fully charged but running purely off solar, so seems to be whenever not on grid.
  3. I did consider the inrush current on the fridges but even with everything else off it will not start. I'm wondering if the output of the inverter is not as clean as I think, perhaps the waveform is not pure.
  4. They are yeah, 5.1kw. the fridges only draw 400w and hairdryer around 1600w so should be well withing spec.
  5. Hi everyone, I have an 5.6 MK4 model (round display) with some strange behaviour. The first issue is I am running 3 fridges off the unit and 2 of them work perfectly however the compressor on the newest one (Bosch unit) refuses to start while the inverter is "inverting" either off solar or battery. I presume this is a protection feature of the fridge. Then when running on battery in the evening, whenever my wife uses her hair dryer I get an F55 fault and the inverter either shuts down and has to be restarted or it restarts itself. I have read of this issue elsewhere on the forum but am not sure what the resolution is. I recently changed from a Kodak VMiii and never had these issues until I put the MK4 in. As a side note I can confirm that my PV yield on the MK4 is much better then that of the VMiii. The inverter is running firmware 74.01. Is there a newer version of firmware for the MK4 and could this potentially resolve the issues or is it an inverter fault. Appreciate all and any assistance!

  9. I connected the third panel and so far so good! No issues, I can only think that there was a faulty component or dry capacitors but all is good. Thanks for all the help
  10. Thanks for all the info, with 2 panels I’m getting about 900w, keen to add the third to get this a bit higher. Voltages are all definitely well within range so I don’t see any issues.

  13. Hey guys, just to give you an update, I had the inverter repaired and connected 2 of the 3 panels. All is working well as it should, only now I have a panel up on the roof doing nothing. Perhaps I should chance connecting it again or otherwise just upgrade to something bigger. Either way 2 is working for now. Thanks everyone

  16. The technician seems to believe that the PV connections were not tightened securely, if this happens, the smallest spark burns the mosfets. I’m pretty sure everything was secure though.
  17. Maybe I should just put 2 panels in series but I have 3 on the roof so seems a waste especially since it is all in spec but may be safer to run 2. So undecided 😅
  18. Thanks yeah it is quite close, I just figured with an absolute upper limit of 145 I would be ok, but like you say, not sure how it handles it.

  20. I measured 111 volts before connecting, this was just before the isolator into the inverter, so should be in range? I can post the spec sheet if it will help but definitely the figures as posted above. Do you think a slight overshoot on the wattage is a problem? Thank you
  21. Hi everyone, first of all thank for all the knowledge share on here and all those who are so willing to assist others, it is really appreciated. I'm hoping someone can assist me with a problem i'm having around my solar setup. I have an Axpert 3kva Plus 24v (most likely a clone) that I have been running for some time without solar. Over the weekend I installed 3 panels and was up and running for about an hour over Midday peak sun. After the hour, there was a loud bang from the inverter and orange sparks out the side where the SCC is located. The inverter / battery setup was still working but the SCC blew. I have sent it in for repairs and they have confirmed that the FET's and some transformers on the MPPT controller blew. I'm so worried that it may happen again and am wondering if I have missed something with the calculations and specs. The inverter is rated at max 1500w solar, MPPT voltage range is 30-115V with max input of 145V. My panels are 545w Vmpp 31.4V and VOC 37.7 with max power current of 17.37A per panel. I have 3 panels in series so this would be a total voltage of 94,2v under load and open circuit 113.1v. I was measuring VOC of 111v with a multimeter. I understand the wattage is slightly above spec (545 x 3 = 1635) but I did not think that this would be an issue given efficiency etc (but I may be wrong here). Do you think I have over paneled by having 3 and should just use 2 or do you think there was a fault within the inverter. After paying for the repairs I would hate for it to happen again once connected. Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. So in summary: Invert Specs - 1500w mppt, 30/115 range, max 145. Panel Spec - 3 x 545 series panels. 31.4 Vmpp each and 37.7 VOC. 17.37 A per panel. Thank you in advance!

    Thanks so much, I guess the main thing I wanted to be sure of was that he would get the benefit of any available solar from a cost saving perspective. I know that some Axpert inverters will just switch outright to grid when the PV supply cannot meet the load demand.

    Hi everyone, i'm looking for some advice re supply blending. Would the SOL-I-AX-8M (Max 2 version) do supply blending? I am helping a friend and he is wanting to run from solar as much as possible but in the event that there is not enough solar he would like to supplement with grid power and should no grid power be available, supplement from battery as a last resort. I understand this is SUB priority output but just want to make sure. So in other words, on a cloudy day, his PV supply is 2000 watts but his load is 4000w, then it should supplement with 2000w from Eskom but still use the 2000w PV at the same time. Thanks so much guys, appreciate all the advice given on the forum.

I have no solar so only charging from utility, these are my settings: Float Voltage: 27.3 Bulk Charge: 29.0 (I've never seen it even close to this as it always goes back to float) Cutoff: 23.7 Utility Charging: 20A Recharge Voltage: 24.3 (although not needed without solar as far as I understand) Total Charging 20A The above is all in USE mode but even if I set to AGM i experience the same behavior in that it always just goes back to float voltage and never above) Thanks for your help!
  25. Hi everyone, I have the same issue in that even after a deep cycle my batteries go straight back to float voltage of 27.6 (user defined) and never go above this for a bulk charge. I fear this is damaging my batteries. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the 3KVA 24V inverters to bulk charge? I have played around with the charge currents as suggested above but still no luck. My only other option is to manually set the float voltage higher for a period of time as described above.
