  1. Hi G Man, I still have them…hardly log on 🙈 bumpity
  2. Extremely neat! Impressive diy install. like those trunking wish I saw this before my diy stint.
  3. Simplistic install, as it’s just a UPS. future upgrades: 1) Storage increase 2) Solar Panels - power runs from DB into sub-DB to charge inverter battery. Surge protection added in-case of eskom spikes - power runs from inverter to sub-DB (change over switch) to feed the main DB (items powered by inverter). Earth leakage added to protect the system (faulty breakers / plugs) -
  4. Herewith my installation (purely UPS). Today, I wanted to separate DC and AC trucking. So, not fully complete yet. comments for improvements welcome! 5kw Sunsynk US3000 Pylontech (hoping to get a bigger battery or add more batteries at a later stage).
  5. These are still in new condition I’m in Jhb south / Alberton R450-00
  6. Looking for either one of these im in jhb thanks
  7. Thanks, the core reason I purchased the HA02 was to ensure equal charge across the batteries, I was annoyed to find 4 different voltages per battery in each of the battery banks. now, they are all equal, if you monitor for a longer period, goes up and down with 00.01. keeping in mind that the inverter flat charge is already set per the battery spec. the issue is not overcharging but the individual batteries were been charged at different rates (despite the inverter float charge values). What I pick up a lot here is we also talk across purposes when referring to lead acid batteries, I think in future would be best to state which specific chemistry the lead acid battery is (e.g. AGM, Gel or flooded). I would also never want to own flooded batteries because of the additional maintenance (top ups, etc.). Life expectancy is also generally different (AGM vs Gel Batteries - Which battery type is better? (canbat.com))
  8. My little brain is battling to understand, i have 2 battery banks with 4 x 200ah, Highest would read 14.2 volts the lowest would read 12.84 volts and the rest of the two after the balancing HA02, I get 13.8v per battery across all 8 if it’s bad to equalize the Gel batteries, should one leave the mismatched voltage battery banks?
  9. Another Superb SunSynk installation..... man, the neatness is +A class, well done. Please PM me your installer details and pricing
  10. 😢 why didn’t I get a SunSynk! That UI is what I’m after. nice setup Achmat, presumably off grid ? Gareth, hope you are sorted, couldn’t resist commenting on the SunSynk
  11. Yup, wanted to ask about the float voltage…. the shotos should be float charged at 4-5volts less than lead acid batteries
  12. Thanks for a comprehensive answer on Microcare. I find their products robust yet archaic in nature (still uses that 1980’s 3 lines calculator screen), wherelse the latest offerings offer much better Ux and Ui. I have also picked up that there are quite a few fan boys on here…. (i) Expensive side: Victron (ii)Midpoint: Sunsynk (iii) Low side: Growatt Batteries, I picked up Poly…and Hubble. I guess the former is for mainstream reasons and the latter for forum sales purpose? Hardly ever see a mention of other names (Freedom, Bluenova, etc.) Reading up on the Experts, I picked up that there are a whole lot of clones!
  13. Hi Jake what did you decide on? @87Dream, I did note that you are an installer, what is your view of the Microcare products (based on installations experience? )
  14. I saw the lead acid lithium replacements, the only other thing to think of besides the comms issue is the inverter’s charge settings to accommodate the lithium’s. The old software in microcare was tuned for LA batteries, float charge is preset at 55.2v (13.8 per battery)
  15. Two years is already half way to getting a good RoI! This is very encouraging. Thanks for sharing. when people always show up in Porsches only (Lithium’s) , peeps driving corollas tend to shy away! Well if your Corolla does the job and is reliable, why not create a song and dance about it!
  16. Makes sense why little interest on AGM or Gel batteries. not all lead acid batteries need maintenance, the above mentioned are sealed, no need top up. whilst lithium is super impressive, there is still a case for sealed lead acid batteries if only using backup power for load shedding etc. if going off grid, yes, makes sense to go all the way. I think one might just be surprised that there are still a lot of peeps on Gel Batteries still.
  17. Might be the specific Victron model not geared for lithium, inverter might require software upgrade.
  18. What are you now using Gerrie? I have ave set my batteries to cut off at 46volts, best case I see it’s 48volts. fully charged they are on 55.2v ( from manufacture, they were on 50.8v). anyone with an opinion what to set cut off at?
  19. I was in the Same boat hence still using the Gel lead acid batteries, Might be worthwhile to send it in, mine is a 15kw monster that weighs nearly 150kgs, yours would be cheaper to courier, the two weeks wait is a better long term investment. another option is to sell that unit and get the newer inverters (microcare is archaic in nature, I went with it for its robustness...they still have 20 year old units doing duty)
  20. Thanks for feedback. How many years have you had the All grand? Is it the norm that there is not a lot of interest in Gel batteries discussions on here. I searched battery life span on here and they are all about lithium.
  21. Okay, manufactures promise a lot of things, and lithium seems to be the in thing……but still a bit costly (upfront cost) and there are cases of premature failure, lasting less than 5 years. I would like to gather real life spans and not theoretical feedback. how long did you have your gel or arm batteries and how long did they last you? if they lasted you less than two years, did you have a battery balancer / equaliser?
  22. Delete or close this! I bought brand new from the Sun Pay website. not a single response from this forum!
  23. Anyone with contacts for Chris R who imports these?
