  1. Good day guys, Ive ordered the AM-5 and awaiting delivery. What i really like about it is the 10 year unlimited cycle warranty and one can see that its first life cells as its rated for 6000 cycles. 10 years does indicate their confidence in the battery and their commitment. ( i get worried when i see 3 years only). Also has a 1C rating When i have mentioned this to installers i get a very half hazardous look and also "are you sure, 10 years". In my mind it might be 1) They had bad experiences with old hubble batteries and for that reason they developed a bad taste 2) They have a affiliate program with other brands. One always talks bad about the other That is why i love the forum because i want to reach out to you guys, Does anyone have some feedback on these, should i return it for a refund or should i use it and block the haters ?
  2. Thanks @Frani - i have all the equipment, just need someone to connect it, coc it and ecsa certify the connection for CT regestration
  3. Good day I have 1 of the following panels : https://www.sustainable.co.za/products/ja-solar-455w-mono-percium-half-cell-solar-panel?variant=42622031429872 I need to buy 3 more panels but cant get stock. Can i pair them with these ? https://www.sustainable.co.za/collections/rigid-solar-panels/products/ja-solar-460w-mono-percium-half-cell-solar-panel Thanks in advance
  4. Hey there Guys, Ime looking for someone to assist with a installation of a sunsynk 5kw in Strand, Cape Town. I already have the panels mounted and the design approved by CTC but i do need help connecting the inverter to the DB board and to give me a COC... Cane someone please recommend an electrician that can assist that will not charge me a heavy solar tax.
  5. After some consideration ime leaning towards the sunSync. Ime already putting down cash and 7K is a fraction of the total cost. thoughts ?
  6. Thanks for the responses guys. This seems to always be the tough question.
  7. @madness_za What's your budget ? - If possible i dont spend more that 20K on the inverter. With the prices increasing the way they have been the Sunsynk just keeps moving away What's your primary requirement ? - My house does not consume a lot of power (10 unis a day), Ime looking for an inverter that can carry my house in loadshedding and also save me a few units a day. I know all 3 those inverters can "blend" with Eskom and for that reason they are on my list. I have a small Axpert that i wrote some code for so i can monitor my Axpert inverter on Victron VRM so the monitoring is not an issue. Also i want to be able to use the grid if i go above 5kva, so the inverter must bypass to deal with the small spike. Must be something that can be repaired locally (cape Town) by me or by an installer. What's your seconday/nice to have - i would like to add a second unit to be there in case of emergency ALSO low fan noise haha
  8. Thanks @Antonio de Sa What i like about having 2 units is that ime covered if one of them breaks. it gives me a disaster recovery strategy !! What size solar array do you have ?
  9. Thanks, ime looking at the Axpert king 2 but the sunynk is a "nice to have" but at almost 8k - 10k price dif ime not yet convinced. Hey there, thanks for the feedback. i really do like the 2 mppt charges because it enables me to have a second string milking the morning sun.
  10. Thanks @mzezman for the response. do you have the Luxpower ?
  11. Good day Ime trying to make up my mind. Ime looking for a 5k inverter to use with a hubble am5 but ime torn between the Axpert, luxpower and Growatt. the thing leading me to the King is the size of the community using them and the support you can get. Does anyone have a preference.
  12. @Coulomb - have the opportunity to to get rid off this inverter, upgrade to 3kva or add some cash and get the Growatt... any suggestions ?
  13. @Coulomb - make sense, thanks for the wisdom. Ime going to have a call with their tech and will give feedback.
  14. @Coulomb - thanks - please share how i can do that. I dont mind loosing the calibration.
  15. No i have not. My current version : U1 09 52 U2 03 39 That would be really awesome. Thanks for the assistance. Is there not a way i can "factory reset" the unit to get it into the previous state? Just for ref: https://www.rctzone.co.za/power-solutions/inverter/off-grid-inverters/rct-axpert-vm-2k-24v
  16. Let me try again (please remember this was not the case until i connected PV)... My settings are Bat_voltage = 24V Float = 26.8V battery_bulk_charge_voltage = 27.8V cut off voltage = 24V Even with these settings, as soon as the inverter reads 100% SOC (this is not correct when it comes to lifepo4 because you can not determine this purely on Voltage). it instantly goes into float state .... It never even hits the bulk/absorption voltage of 27.8. Note: i have a balances that balances the 2 batteries at 27.3 v. This never happens because the inverter never hits high enough voltage. This is the issue. Before it adhered to the setting and when it would go into float it would maintain (without fans) the voltage with no issues, now the fans spin up every 20 min.
  17. @Coulomb - Thanks for the response again. It did finally reach the float voltage. Is there a way i can factory reset the inverter to set it back to "normal" ? The other irritating thing is that the fans spin every 30 min even with no load. This was not the case before this issue. If i have to get an external MPPT them maybe it would be better just to return/refund the @#$% thing and get a Growatt/whatever ? UPDATE : I managed to get it to not stop at float by doing the following. 1) Removed AC and PV power 2) used 20% of by battery capacity. 3) Disconnected battery then reconnected battery 4) While off added the PV again 5) added load 6) added AC Now if is charging without "is_charging_to_float" true and is charging to bulk voltage.... BUT when the SOC reeds 100% it goes to float and does not go to user defined voltage
  18. Hey there, I have a RCT Axpert 2k inverter and it is bugging me because it has the premature Float bug. It wont even hit the programmed float voltage. I want to update the firmware to fix this bug. Where can i find this fix ? ALSO I dont have an idea how to do this. Is there a guide you guys can recommend???
  19. @Coulomb - Thanks for the feedback. It does mess with my monitoring but ile make changes to my stack.
  20. I have a 24V setup with a RCT Axpert 3kv inverter, I have recently attached solar leads to test a panel array. After removing the solar array and wires ime still getting a 10W charge reading from "solar" and also reading a pv_input_voltage of 19.5 v Has anyone seen this before, how can i resolve this?
  21. Thank @LoganD , just got myself one of these. I did read the amazon post but still not 100% confident. Please can you share a pic and maybe a short guide on setting to your parameters. Thanks again
