Makita powertools batteries - what's going on?
Yeah, I considered this option, but a spot welder costs a little more than "a couple of bucks". Would be a fun project, but certainly not cost effective. I think I just have to sit it out and wait for someone to go on holiday overseas and bring me a battery pack along. Not willing to buy the obscene prices for an original here. Out of principal. I guess with the arrival of ingco and Total the market has shifted quite a bit and there's no demand for Makita compatible batteries anymore.

Not ideal, but that's not a bad idea. Do you know a recommended place in Cape Town?

I actually bought one of these but the extra bulk it adds is much more of a problem then I hoped.

Makita powertools batteries - what's going on?
Just wondering if anyone here knows where to source affordable batteries for Makita power tools. I was shocked to find the market in SA in a ridiculous state. Original Makita batteries are 50 to 100% more expensive than in other markets. Third party alternatives do not seem to be available in SA at all anymore. When I was I in the market ca. five years ago originals where at global prices and alternatives were easily available. What happened?

Battery not charging past 90%
We have a 5kW Sunsynk Inverter and a 5kWh Pylontech Battery. System has been running great, and is still running great, except that the battery - suddenly - does not charge to 100% anymore. Even though the setting is still in place, the inverter only charges the battery to 90%. Does anyone know what's going on? I would really like to use the last 10% again.
