Just wondering if anyone here knows where to source affordable batteries for Makita power tools. I was shocked to find the market in SA in a ridiculous state. Original Makita batteries are 50 to 100% more expensive than in other markets. Third party alternatives do not seem to be available in SA at all anymore. When I was I in the market ca. five years ago originals where at global prices and alternatives were easily available. What happened?

Hallo guys. I bought a second hand TOPTRONIC T48 multimeter. When i measure temperature with temperature lead (supplied) and positive and negative propes correctly plugged in and dial set to C. when switched on reading is +19 degree Celsuis. If i put sensor in say oven or on element the reading start dropping even into the negative. Is this correct on this meter? I personally do not think so.

Hello everyone, I have a cutting plotter (Secabo C60IV) that does a good job. However, it is very loud when rendering. The loud noises come from the internally installed stepper motors. My question to you: is it possible in principle to replace stepper motors with (much quieter) servo motors? And with as little effort as possible, ideally just changing motors, without controls, printed circuit boards, etc...?

Hi, The battery in my dash cam has swollen up and I can't find a replacement. I was wondering if you could bypass the battery so that the dash cam will only work when the external power from the cars lighter socket is on. Has anybody tried this. If so please help.

We Share a lot of knowledge on Solar and show off our installations , but very few of us complain about everything involved in getting an extension lead to the roof because the Battery Drill you bought last month cant keep its charge, and then realizing you forgot the chuck key for the Corded drill in the garage on the other side of the house just as you are about to secure the first bracket unto the roof. We all know proper tools can make any job a pleasant experience, but once you struggling with tools it turns into a nightmare in seconds.. We up north truly has a very limited selection of tools available and normally it will be something in the lines of the Hand…

I often use thermal imager for smart phone to detect the failures in the circuits and wirings. FLIR one pro used to be a good choice. It can fuse the visible light with infrared light in the daytime. But when it comes to night, the visible light does not work at all. What is worse, its work time is too short. It often run out of power in 1 hour. Then I bought Seek compact pro. It can work for longer time. But it cannot produce clear images. I cannot even see the specific part on the circuit board. I have seen my friend using IRay T3S. Its images are even better than FLIR one pro, and it can work for a long time by using the battery of the phone. But m…

Hello We would like to be able to see in real time the commands been send from an smart battery to an Axpert inverter. We have seen the inverter to react to the comments but we are not sure which commands the battery is sending. is there hardware which could be placed in the system to monitor the commands received by the inverter, we have the comm protocol table. Thanks

Hi guys So I'm in the market for a new DMM, as I am still using quite an old and small Majortech DMM. Does anyone have experience with the Uni-T 216C at all? I am considering this one as it can measure AC and DC amps with the clamp, whereas the smaller 216B in the same range can only measure AC amps. My thoughts is obviously that with the solar side of things it would be nice to be able to measure DC amps. Budget is limited, so that is one of the reasons I'm not going for the Flukes etc. Cheers!

I was wondering, Who on the forum is using something like this, or who will use something like this if you had one? Do you mind sharing what you use or want to use it for. For those who already use is, what industry are you in?

Hi All. I need a bit of help, im playing a bit with a IR camera that closes a external relay of a 12V circuit. The IR is in the garage so I hope it doesn't trigger by wind and so on. My question is, the typical sirens that ADT would install at your home. In order to make that oscillating tone , I imagine this wouod required a circuit? Or is this build into the back of the DC siren. Please excuse my ignorance, I just enjoy playing. Any help would be great. I am wondering if this is something I can buy off ebay. I love ebay. I buy all my glasses frames there, hehe. @superdiy, @JDP @plonkster, @Chris Hobsonthis might be up your alley. Plonk, Chri…
